After tossing and turning for hours thinking about what the Pirate said about icy roads and hazardous driving conditions up in her neck of the woods, I finally drifted off. Horrible, horrible dreams soon followed.... “Doctor, I don’t care what you say, I can’t allow her to exist another moment in this ghoulish, vegetative state, depending on a machine and fluids from a bottle. I can’t ...I just can’t. Slim, slowly crossed the room and pulled the plug on her computer killing Funtrivia and throwing the Rum bottle in the trash.

"OMG! What have you done?" screamed the pirate in despair. "What am I going to do for the rest of the winter? I have no choice but to drive to the mall to shop! Do you know what could happen to me out there? Did you think of that before you so carelessly cut my lifeline? No, no I'm sure you didn't! Well the least you could do is go start the car...no nevermind..you can't possibly do it properly. I'll do it myself!"
Slim's nightmare was becoming worse by the second. He tried desparately to wake himself up, but he kept on dreaming...

The trumpet sounds were getting louder and louder! Slim thought the sound would break his eardrums. All of a sudden, things changed, as they often do in dreams. Slim was standing in the middle of a snowy, ice-covered road. As also often happens in dreams, he was frozen to the spot! What he thought had been trumpets, was actually the horn of the pirate's car. She was skidding out of control, straight towards Slim and Gilly! Slim could see her eyes. He thought he saw anger in them, and figured it must be because her music collection had been ruined. (She was the one who really loved that collection!) "She's trying to kill me!" Slim thought to himself, but he still couldn't move. Of course the pirate could not, nor would ever do such a thing! She was trying desperately to get him to move out of harm's way. Magically, a split second before the car hit Slim, Gilly turned it into a Pot of Gold!
"What a dream!" Slim thought, as the Pot of Gold skidded to a stop in front of him....

What the....??? This SUCK S though maybe I should say it blows. Gawd, inside my head feels like a steroid junky is using a jack hammer....and where is that loud, heinous trumpeting noise coming from? Little green men? ...pots of gold? This is bad, very, very, bad. Ahhhhhh.... screaming and running to genuflect a forth time before the porcelain god. I was beginning to feel slightly less putrid after the forth of these insanely quick, nauseating wind sprints and subsequent quasi-religious experiences. Thinking back to possible sources of my extreme discomfort ...Ah, I remember now..... (which is a really good sign). Slim remembered celebrating a certain calendar event with Tequila and Mexican food both of which, I can tell you, are WAY more fun going the other direction. He reached for his mondo-bitching sunglasses and stepped away from light sources to think about those horrible dreams......my record collection is crap? A critique from a Slayer fan???

Slim rubbed the stubble over his cleft chin, lost in thought, and grabbed a bottle of ibuprofen. He swallowed a handful and washed them down with half a bottle of Evian. "Maybe that will do the trick" he muttered. He limped over to his "bitchin'" sound system and put on one of his favorite Smiths CD's. (Nothing like Morissey to cure a case of the WHAMs).

Slim sidled up to his front window and took a peek out.

"Whut in tarnation!", he yelled. There was a blizzard outside, and there on his porch, stuck in two feet of snow, was a cast iron pot full of...

absolutely nothing! This startled Slim. He stood there thinking to himself, "Could this have been real?" Was that pot that is now sitting on his porch, once full of gold? Could one of his surrounding neighbors (that he absolutely could not stand) have taken what was in the pot?

Slim asks himself, "Is there anyway to know for sure?"

This page is really fun; it really entertains me; I like the various games; I can see the different opinions of people all over the world; I can express myself in the threads; and it allows me to learn new english words, since my mother tongue isn`t english.

Well, I could be sleeping.
I could be playing the household drudge.
I could be out walking the doggie.
I could be quilting. I could be embroidering.

But instead, I am having fun playing trivia!

(for dmacleodavon) You see grasshopper the story means different things to different people. It's a long and winding road...I explained in the title block where I thought the story might go but as you can see I was wrong. It has mutated and now has a life of its own. Just go with the flow and enjoy.

Slim didn’t know what was real or imagined during the last twenty four hours. Truth be known, he didn’t really give a rip. The curious and confusing sequence-of-events happened and he wouldn’t want it any other way.
Slim didn’t want any part of that blizzard but the weird light coming from that pot had overcome his discomfort with the blizzard. Stepping outside he quickly reached the pot.
The pot wasn’t exactly empty but it didn’t exactly contain gold either. Inside Slim saw what appeared to be a Pontiac Grand Am stop light (same car as the Pirate drives) and below that was piece of paper with these words scrawled across it.

You may be headed for the trivia zoo if.....

Before you’ve finished your morning coffee,
before you’ve showered, and dressed.
You finally look up to see it’s time to leave the house.
You’re still there with eyes glazed over listening to music and moving a mouse.

When you inhale breakfast between games of Last One Standing,
and you’re more interested in speedily answering trivia questions,
than you are in the wind speed of the latest hurricane and it’s predicted landing.

When the number of your online friends
greatly exceeds the real life ones.
When people scoff and tease you about your virtual life.
Because you are still sitting there with glazed over eyes in that chair,
while they are off having fun somewhere.

People are beginning to stare because you insist on turning your head sideways to smile
You might be heading for the trivia zoo and you might be there awhile ;)
