Is british food the worst. I don't think so. There is plenty of decent food in britain. Some of the national dishes are excellent. There is nothing wrong with haggis it is one of my favourite dishes if i was looking for traditional. I think there is worst food that british i am not keen on italian it is all garlic and tomatoes in there. i went to an italian resturant and not only was it pricey but my plate was swimiming in olive oil and it was greasy tomato. Also Thai food in the resturants they don't give you enough and charge a lot for little and use a lot of lemon grass and coconut in their dishes, chinese is a lot better and you get more. Reply #181. Good British foods consists of high quality ingredients cooked well. It's reputation for bad food comes from when those two elements are missing. Britain has some of the best quality meat and lovely vegetables. We used to be very good at making pies too but the art of home cooking is becoming lost in modern life with processed food, school dinners etc. Also during the second world war food was rationed and a lot of good ingredients weren't available. Poverty at various ages also meant people could not afford good ingredients, especially as cities expanded during the industrial revolution and millions moved away from the land with its connection to good food, to the cities. So I don't think it's the worst but you have to seek out the good. Reply #183. Sep 24 16, 3:00 AM |
