As others have noted, I think the biggest mistake most Vegemite newbies make is using too much of it. I know, some people will say any amount is too much, but in reality a thin spread will suffice. The savoury taste is what gives it appeal, but even as an Ozzie I wouldn't layer it on too thick. When Kraft tried to introduce the 21st century cheese/vegemite version, it bombed spectacularly. Did't help that they gave it a ridiculous name: "iSnack2.0" Some 20yo advertising guru probably got big bucks for coming up with that piece of rubbish. It sank without a trace within a month or two. My favourite: Ryvita biscuit, butter, vegemite, lettuce and radish. Sounds gross, but tastes fantastic. Reply #61. Nov 21 13, 9:58 PM |

I love Marmite, which is the English equivalent. When I found Vegemite in my local supermarket I bought a jar to try. I thought it was disgusting. I did not even like it in things such as gravy and threw it out. Back to Marmite. Reply #62. Jun 19 14, 2:08 AM |

Many years ago, a company called Nabisco added a new flavour to their 'In a Biskit' range: Vegemite. People liked the usual flavours (chicken, cheese, bacon etc.) but the vegemite ones were REALLY popular, so you can imagine how disappointing it was when Nabisco stopped making them. Reply #66. wwe84. I like those things individually (marmite rather than vegemite) but as a combination it does sound quite disgusting. I have a thing about eating cheese and meat together anyway - the thought of it is not appealing, too much fat - too heavy in the stomach. Reply #69. Jan 27 18, 5:38 AM |

Buying bread from a man in Brussels He was six-foot-four and full of muscles I said, "Do you speak-a my language?" He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich Reply #70. Feb 14 18, 7:32 PM |
