Okay. It finally got to me. I Had to Have a new blog!
Hangout, drop out - or drop in......the door is always open, the fridge and pantry are forever filled with delectable goodies, the kettle is on permanent boil and there is always a comfy chair and friendly company.
Welcome to my realm. :)

33.9C at 9am and still climbing. I Just can't wait till it it hits 40C on Sunday ......
Buffalo USA is snowed under with a prospective snow total of 8 feet and driving rain and severe flood alerts issued.
All perfect spring / autumn weather and totally expected. :P

Meanwhile, back on the ranch The Bride to Be is having a Hen's Do over the weekend - walls, ceiling, architraves and skirtings are painted, the verticals washed and re-hung (make sure you rehang them backwards.....) the floor has its 3 coats and look Absolootely Frabjous thanks to AJ's ministrations.
The oven and cooktop and light fittings need to be wired in, fridge moved in from the garage, handles added to kitchen drawers and cupboards - but the main phase is completed and looks terrific and ready for furniture.

Some tidying up needed with extra doors to clean and paint and replace the bathroom vanity and bath taps but that's for Next weekend.

That leaves AJ a week to recover after his Buck's Do in Sydney, planned by long-time mates.
My only request was to bring him back in one piece and sober for his wedding.

With the wedding invites now officially released, the date of the 13th December is galloping ever closer.
I really hope it's a clement day day or we'll all be melting and the Bride to Be doesn't fare well in the heat.

Miss B has one last interview and a 'test' for Wagga Uni and her applications are complete. Waiting time then begins but the results should be in by the wedding date.
A double celebration could be in order.

It will be a quieter Christmas this year with AJ and Cass away in New Zealand on their honeymoon and I'm finding all the annoying little things about AJ are no longer annoying but savoured. A few short weeks and there will be only Steve and I at home which is quiet a sobering thought.
Just as well we have spare rooms for visitors.

I finish work on 28th November, retiring but not really.
Now I can start on all the projects that have been put on hold while school fees were paid and "Life with Kids' was lived.

And I can go house-hunting!

Woops, no you don't! *grabs blog*
Just in time before this little dear escaped over the horizon. The things that happen when I'm not watching!

Just for a something different, the year started with a bang.
There is a rather large, well e.nor.mous spotted gum tree at our driveway gate. It's a gorgeous tree, just Not There.
There are several trees in similarly unsuitable sites.
Back........ It is a beautiful tree but had a large lower branch that was definitely under huge stress and needed to be removed before it did some damage - so it removed itself.

Dropped straight off and took down the incoming house power lines, into the ground. Power provider sent a techie out who disconnected the power on the live side but that's all they do now. We need a private contractor.
OK.......
After much faffing around located a contractor, by now it's nearly dark, and he happily checked over the line and the tree and offered to replace and reconnect the following day.
We had two cars and a trailer packed to leave first thing next morning for Wagga, 6 hours away to resettle Miss B into her new Uni share house.

My Pet Nerd to the rescue! As he was still working on his car at our place, he'd head over to meet the contractor and bring his portable generator to keep the fridge-freezer happy till the house had Real Power.

Tree now has a few less branches, other than the one it so kindly shared and the new power line is all shiny and storm proofed, so less chance of 'other' breakdowns.

And there is a mountain for firewood.

Meanwhile, the grass grows, the trees are changing colour, bulbs are peeking still deciding whether it Really Is autumn, I have a greenhouse full of winter vegie seedlings and other goodies to plant out and sweet potato and eggplants currently rule the garden.

And on the late roses, lavender and basil the bees humm lazily. It's all rather nice.

Summer into autumn, my favourite time of year. *aaaaaah*

The trees are dropping leaves rather than colouring, all the bulbs are well up, roses are shooting, while the sweet potato still partays all over the vegie garden. Everything should be preparing for sleep and I have tried to tuck them all in; soil nicely dug, new mulch, seeds all lined up for the next foray.
It's not happening.
We're in the steady hands of hands of a beautiful, if very extended Indian summer.
Then, then this morning, "Current temperature 11C - feels like 9C.
And just like that, it's winter!
