Subject: The Weight Room

Hey there. This is my first foray into this particular forum of self revelation.
The title refers to,in the last few years my ongoing love affair with eating and the resultant ups and downs with food, glorious food.
I will chronicle my journey with the scale and the fridge, and the ongoing battle of the bulge.
Doing this publically will, i hope, keep me on the straight and narrow as well as the slimmer and healthier path.
My weight as of this morning is 248.8 lbs,not the most i've ever weighed, but close.
Here Goes!

You mean you're supposed to chew? There's my problem right there.lol.
You know that feeling you get when you have to push yourself away from the the table, say no more and loosen your belt, that's overfull, you ate so fast that you body couldn't tell you when to stop, eating slowly will allow your stomach to tell you sooner to stop, and perhapshelp you from gaining those extra pounds.
One trick i have heard of is that when serving food at the table,is to put dessert on the table with all the other dishes at the beginning of the meal, that way people will see all their choices at once and eat accordingly.
I think that's a good idea.

Depends what their idea of "accordingly" is. There may be some diners who will be satisfied with just a main course, and others who will rush to get to the sweet food, which seems to defeat the purpose of eating slowly and chewing a lot.

Nice article (one of many) about the joys of mastication:

I lost the thread there for a minute.

Started some mild exercise on MLK day. I have to go slow, as I'm prone to muscle spasms right now. I think that as I move more, I'll be able to do more.

So basically, on days with no car trips and errands, I'm walking or sweeping for 15 minutes. If I cramp up, a pause and then finish.

My sub goal is to be able to walk my dog in my neighborhood.

I usually get all enthused and over exercise, then I'm sore and use that for an excuse to stop. This little carousel of defeat has got to stop for me to reach my goal.

Almost a week now, so far so good. I'l report any pounds lost after my doctor visit Feb. 7.

Keep it up.

Good for you

Know all about cramping up (seems that's the way of things until we're in a routine)

We're behind you, so don't give up

I haven't tried a pair on yet, but I think I'll soon be able to wiggle into my jeans again

I'm sick of feeling like crap because I don't exercise

I'm trying to do at least ten minutes on the bike for five days each week (that doesn't include han weights or stretches)
