Miserable news - nobody deserves even one of these. I've read that he has had an op on the "early stages" of prostate cancer, and it has been pronounced successful. The Parkinsons can be treated, but he's already asking his audiences what he was talking about, so possibly not well enough. He is planning more work, though. Perhaps the treatment will improve, or there's more support for a TV series than for stand-up. Whatever happens, I wish him well. Reply #2. Sep 16 13, 6:07 PM |

As someone who has Parkinsons, I can assure you Lesley it does not affect memory, sounds more like Alzheimers setting in to me. It is a pity because he has been a first rate entertainer. Reply #3. Sep 16 13, 7:51 PM |

Shame a talanted comic has been hit this way, off to watch one of his finest performances alongside Rebus actor Ken Stott. the Film The Debt collector. Get well soon Big Yin and keep us laughing. Reply #4. Sep 17 13, 5:41 AM |

That's interesting, Meg, because I hadn't realised it did either - perhaps because it doesn't! Moral -when in doubt, check. I wish you well too. (((()))) Reply #5. Sep 17 13, 6:21 AM |

Connolly s a crack-up, first class. Shame he finds it necessary to use profanities quite liberally in some shows, as he is truly funny without it. Reply #8. Nov 21 13, 8:07 AM |

That's what makes him so funny, he tells it like it is and just couldn't give a hoot. Reply #9. Dec 02 13, 9:22 AM |

I love Billy, he's just delightful. We rarely hear news about him in the U.S. Does anyone know how he's doing? Reply #11. Jan 03 15, 10:24 PM |

He seems to be doing fine and just recently appeared at The Usher Hall in Edinburgh on his latest tour. I didn't go but heard that he was hilarious and did indeed make jokes about his condition. Hope he continues to keep us laughing. Reply #12. Jan 07 15, 8:28 AM |

I do too, for many years to come. Thanks, Rambler. :) A few years ago he filmed a travel series while he drove Rt. 66 from Illinois to California. Extremely entertaining. I wish we could see more of him here. Reply #13. Jan 07 15, 9:13 PM |

Oh yeah I watched that, it was great. His tour of Scotland was also really interesting and just so funny. He's a one of I think, like a lot of other entertainers, like Robin Williams, Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson. There will never be anyone else like them. Reply #14. Personally I thought his best effort was when he portrayed John Brown, the ever faithful servant of Queen Victoria. I can't recall the name of the film but I thought he was exceptionally good and after seeing him play that part I honestly could not envision anyone else in that role. Reply #15. Feb 12 15, 3:46 AM |
