I would add to Food Heaven: goat cheese and honey-glazed pecans. Food Hell: eggplant, sushi, and squid. I was once invited to a friend's house for dinner. To my horror, the main course was eggplant parmesan. I somehow managed to gag it down without being sick. To be polite, I even complimented my hostess on how good it was. Big mistake. She immediately placed another portion on my plate, and I had to eat that, too. I still get nightmares.

On the BBC Cooking show "Saturday Kitchen" celebrity guests have to say what their food heaven and food hell is. Then the audience votes as to whether they will have to eat their food heaven or food hell. (We know all this you say, why are you telling us?). I've noticed that the audience almost always votes for the celebrity to eat their food hell and I feel sure a celebrity the other week tried to get round this by saying that chocolate was his food hell. Really! Is chocolate ever anyone's food hell?

I've noticed that too, Mix. Food hell, chocolate? really?

I've also noticed that they tuck into their supposed food hell, and pronounce it anything between not too bad, and delicious. One exception was Rhod Gilbert in 2012. Heaven, curry: hell, scallops. He ate the scallops, and said I don't like scallops, and you can't make somebody like things.

I was intrigued by your post #39 and had a little search for Greene's cause of death. Found this in Wiki:
"He died in 1991 at age 86 of leukaemia..."
Can you blame leukaemia on a surfeit of liver? Does it get you out of eating it? ;)

Lesley, I am in agreement with you. Liver is a wonderful food. Especially calves liver and foie gras! As for Graham Greene, I am reminded of Senor Wences, who died at the tender age of 103, due to his two pack a day cigarette habit.
