Co-incidentally, I noticed there's also a new "Titanic" thread on the "History" page.

You'd think that a nice meal of roast beef and gravy would only have been available in First Class, right? I've just looked at the menus for all three classes and each one features roast beef. Yes, even Third Class passengers could enjoy a plate of roast beef and gravy for lunch or dinner. Second Class passengers could also have roast lamb with mint sauce or roast turkey with cranberry sauce.

A letter found on the body of First Class passenger, Alexander Holverson, has just sold at auction for $212,000. Dated April 13th, 1912, Mr Holverson, who was travelling with his wife, Mary, who survived the sinking, had intended to mail the letter to his mother when Titanic arrived in New York. The letter describes Titanic as a 'giant' and says 'the food is very good'.

Here's something interesting: a scrapbook belonging to one of Carpathia's passengers is up for auction. It contains several photos of the rescue of Titanic survivors.

Just been looking through a pile of old things in the bottom of my wardrobe and found what I at first thought was a fake souvenir Titanic postcard. Decided to look through Titanic's passenger lists and discovered that the person mentioned on the postcard was actually a real passenger. His name is Escott Robert Phillips. He travelled in Second Class with his daughter, Alice, and wrote the postcard to a friend. It's dated April 11th, 1912. Alice survived the sinking, but her father perished and his body was never recovered.

A warning to anyone looking to join a Titanic discussion forum: if you like talking about both the Titanic and a variety of other subjects, don't join the EncyclopediaTitanica forum. I'm a former member of that forum and the reason I asked for my account to be deleted is because they're incredibly historical and not very accepting of members who want to talk about subjects that aren't Titanic-related.

I thought I was the only one who liked the Titanic. I have this strange attraction to the subject. I just can 't get enough of it , I even have a book on the engines. But the people are the stories I am or was a member of the Canadian Titanic society and a huge picture of Her. It sounds like you know a lot more than I do. As I said I just can't gt enough of the stories about Her. I came to Canada on the White Star Line the H.M.S. Georgic I was 5 and I wore a sailor suit and the captain to a shine to me and gave me a pin of the ship. I still have and wear it. May be this is why I enjoy learning more about the The Titanic. Just let me know if there is anything I can do or add to your search. Thanks I'll keep in touch.

Hubby and I went to The Titanic Artifact Exhibition Tour. The tour stopped in Galveston, Tx. It was really fascinating. Titanic was/is/and always will be an interesting subject. As sad as it was, it is a part of history. History should be kept real and accurate. Thank you for the interesting facts.

I to, went to that exhibition in Spokane, I loved the luxury of the first class bedroom replica, as well as the 3d class dorm (tiny) room where 4-6 men would sleep, strangers who may not have even spoken the same language.

A pocket watch that once belonged to one of Titanic's second class passengers was recently sold at auction for more than $50,000. Mr Sinai Kantor and his wife, Miriam, were Russian immigrants hoping to start a new life in America. Mrs Kantor survived the sinking, but her husband perished. His body was later recovered and he was buried in New York.
