I was a big fan of Rickles as well. Even though most of the shtick that made him famous would be considered politically incorrect today, I always got the feeling that it was entirely just shtick and that Mr. Warmth actually was a heck of nice guy who didn't believe the things he was saying. The fact that he and Bob Newhart were best buddies didn't at all surprise me. I think Bob is, and Don was, a gentleman. I'll miss him. Reply #2. Apr 06 17, 1:48 PM |

Being insulted by him would have been awesome! From what I've been reading, Mr. Rickles was a wonderful husband, friend and person. Remember his nickname? Mr. Warmth.... People are expressing their thoughts and it seems many wanted to be the one he insulted. That is a reputation few, if any, will ever experience. Thanks, Daver and strong1. Reply #3. Loved Don Rickles. And he was in a Twilight Zone: "Mr.Dingle, The Strong". It's too bad his brand of insult comedy is almost extinct. It was hilarious. Reply #4. Apr 06 17, 8:44 PM |
