I don't understand fancy handbags. If it hold my stuff, it's good enough! I have no wish to waste my money to advertise for any brand. Reply #2. Dec 08 17, 3:46 PM |

I always carry the smallest purse I can. I don't want to pack around everything I own. I don't even put my phone in my purse. I have one purse that only holds my Driver's License and one credit card! It's completely adorable, with a long, leather strap so I can wear it any way I want and not worry about it being nabbed. But that's not something I worry about anyway. Advice to Bachelors and Men of All Kinds: Don't ever look in a woman's purse without her express permission. Would you want her rifling through your wallet, or all your pockets? And don't mention the size of her purse, either. Would you want her mentioning your... ? Reply #4. Dec 12 17, 2:47 PM |

Fancy? Why? I need comfort. I used to "collect" purses (least, thats what it felt like when I was packing up to move). Question became... why do I even have this? What do I need it for (there was also an assortment of wallets and change purses). *Why* One time in physical therapy, the therapist was describing how "stylish" the "lap belt" they put on patients was. *Dont care, I feel like a dog wearing it* (gives me flashbacks to other years in other physical therapy venues... including them "yanking upward" on the buckle (so that, presumably, I, with bad balance already, would not fall). In the end, he took that belt off (because i said I was fighting hard not to have a panic attack). I dont even *wear* belts, as a general rule; I dont need them. Reply #5. Dec 12 17, 6:41 PM |

I'm a fan of belts, too. And boots. How do you feel about boots? Reply #7. Dec 13 17, 7:16 PM |

Personally, we don't care for them as they tend to be heavy and... clunky. It's hard enough walking around sometimes without adding boots into the mix. Reply #8. Dec 14 17, 6:06 AM |

True, boots can be clunky, depending on the heels. You kind of have to learn to walk in boots with a heel, just like you have to learn to walk in heels of any kind. The best thing to do is just to slow down when you're walking in heels, especially stiletto heels. The slower you walk, the better you look and feel, and the harder it is to stumble. But right now, I'm preferring my slippers/booties. You know the ones? Some of them are polar fleece, and my newest ones are knitted tops with leather bottoms. So dang cute, and so warm and comfy! Perfect for jammies! In fact, let's all toss out our purses, belts, and boots with heels and heels of any kind, and just get in our jammies with our slippers and warm socks! Baby, it's cold outside... Reply #9. Dec 14 17, 5:16 PM |

We cant wear heels, period. Flat feet *and poor balance spell disaster for that type of stuff. We dont much care for dresses and "girly girly" things anyway. Its always been comfort over fashion for us. The only pair of boots we have are for snow, and we prefer not to have to wear them. We have smooth-bottom shoes with thick insoles; not very fashionable, but practical, and thats what wer all about. Ooh, we love slippers. And slipper socks. Used to have such cute slippers with the bows on, but we kept losing one somewhere... And then, of course, we had our present setback with the blister and callous (see? Another reason we cant do heels... or boots real well. Any sort of pressure on that area creates pressure sores, and another trip to the foot do ctor potentially). One really does need a certain "type" of foot for heels to work. Love warm jammies and socks. Lovely winter weather. Or you could just curl up with a good book. "Oh, the weather outside is frightful..." Reply #10. Dec 14 17, 5:34 PM |

I don't have a fireplace in my new house, the one thing I absolutely had to have on my "Must Have List." It's not even possible one isn't in this house! There is a coal chute, there is a coal room in the basement, but no fireplace! So, I went looking and knocking on walls, and sure enough... "They" covered it up with a plaster wall! So now I have a gorgeous antique free-standing mantle, hand-carved with a mirror -- so beautiful and perfect for this house -- anchored to the wall so my kitties can't jump up there and knock it to the ground, and a mason I am working with. I *might* have a fireplace before Spring, but it will all be installed by next Winter, for sure. Jammies and soft slippers and fires make for happy kitties and girls at my house. Forget the boots and heels! But the fire is so delightful... ! Reply #11. Dec 14 17, 8:30 PM |

Just so long as it's "pure snow" and not that wintery mix wer known for here. Apparently, we were born during an ice storm; also, there was one on our birthday the other year. Not fun at all; one of the few days in winter we look forward too, cos mom takes us out to eat (recently, unclle has joined us ojn those outings). Reply #13. Dec 14 17, 10:26 PM |

Ice storms are a big old mess. No one can drive in them. No one can walk in them. I can't scrape my windshield after an ice storm! They're just soooo wrong. Reply #14. Dec 14 17, 10:32 PM |

Yeah, Elle, that sounds very nice. Hope you get to enjoy it all soon. Cant wear sandals either; not enough supports for those feet :-( although I was wearing a "surgical shoe" DURING THE SUMMER... MOST PEOPLE CALLED IT A BOOT, THOUGH IT WAS OPEN TOED LIKE A SANDAL. Just wore the one as those cost $20 per sandal (or "shoe.") Fell apart, and now Im wearing sturdier shoes; still got the memory-foam inserts, and they got smooth soles. Expensive ($180 for the pair). Reply #16. Dec 16 17, 10:56 PM |

This is supposed to be a thread of women offering advice to bachelors, instead, I'm reading about women talking about handbags and boots. Is this an alternate universe to the one in which I live?Sarcasm alert. Reply #17. Jan 02 18, 12:59 PM |

"Snarky Post Alert!" (I found it, Jazz.) Okay, um, advice for bachelors... I can't think of a single thing right now. It's hard to *think* through a headache. Here's a little tidbit. Don't say to a girl, "Wow, what a great dress!" Instead, say, "That dress is so beautiful on you!" That way, you're complimenting her on her taste and how she looks in the dress, and not just the article of clothing. Also? If you truly like her, make a meal for her. Mark, I'm sure you can attest to this, right? Reply #19. Jan 02 18, 4:51 PM |

I meant Jazzee's post was snarky, Mark. She had mentioned she posted one in her blog. Your post was fine. Reply #20. Jan 02 18, 4:52 PM |
