The answer is... they don't. I think you must be looking at the numbers given in the list of Divisions, where the division you are in is based on the number of topics you have won in the past. However, the allocation to a specific division is also based on whether or not you have won in that topic before. For example, I've just completed a game where, if the division split was based solely on the number of wins I have I should be in the division for players with between 160 and 999 wins. But I've won that particular topic before so I'm automatically included in the Champions division - it doesn't matter how many topics I've won in total, it only matters if I've won that specific topic before. So, all the "previous winners of that topic" are put together in a Champions' set irrespective of how many wins they have in other topics and to keep that set separate from all other divisions, it's arbitrarily given a number which can't be achieved in any other way - and that number is set at 1000. It's just a device to make sure the webserver can keep its sums apart. Reply #1. Oct 20 23, 2:14 PM |

Thank you for that explanation. I don't normally look at scores from last games but I was checking to see if I had completed a daily challenge. Reply #2. Oct 20 23, 9:07 PM |

Doesn't really matter. Once you reach Champion status it becomes a speed game in that topic. This is why I never play the Easy daily quiz. I'm too slow. If a quiz is too easy, I'm usually doomed from the start. Because this site puts so much weight on speed, you're compelled to take quizzes on topics that are less well-known or popular...or at least hit the General quizzes more than specific ones. Reply #3. I try to pick categories that I have a pretty good idea about since the chances of me doing well are pretty good. Reply #4. Oct 20 24, 1:57 PM |
