A heads-up to authors looking to complete paintings: just like with Author Challenges (like this month), the system will not recognize templates created before the month began, so limitations like the 'one at a time' rule mean you will need to clear your existing projects (ie. get them online) to be able to make an attempt for the painting (and the prestige attached). We just had an Adoption criteria last month, but it wasn't the first and probably will not be the last. Reply #1. Nov 02 23, 10:26 AM |

Well, I finally got over my writer's block so I started working on some of my claimed adoptees again. They'll go online sooner or later, no worries ;) Reply #2. Nov 02 23, 10:38 AM |

My last five are all scheduled for this month as well. Did five per month this year to clear out my Adoption badge tiers. :) Reply #4. Nov 02 23, 11:44 AM |

I prepared an adoptee for submission this morning. I'll submit after my quiz for the setlist challenge goes online. Reply #5. Nov 02 23, 11:44 AM |

My three (one adopted yesterday for the picture) are all planned as QuiWriMo criteria - one as an adoption the others in criteria that are not template-specific. Top of my list. Reply #6. Nov 02 23, 12:48 PM |

I check frequently to see if there are any potential adoptees of a culinary, gastronomic, epicurean nature. Alas. The aged old padre walked down the hallway to find a quiz to adopt. But when he got there the closet was bare and so his intentions were stopped. Reply #7. Nov 02 23, 11:24 PM |

I usually save a copy of the original quiz that I adopt in a word file but I am not sure, once I claim it, is it gone? If, for example, I alter it significantly and then decide not to do it, is the original gone forever? I haven't done anything like that, nor do I intend to, just curious. It seems very final. The original will be gone. Once you claim the quiz, you become associated with it. The reason the majority of these quizzes are up for grabs is because the intent is to rehabilitate them to be more playable. As to how much of the original framework you want to keep is up to you. Some quizzes I've kept and upgraded the info/recontextualize the questions; some I've changed formats entirely. I took a 5-question quiz about zodiac signs during the summer and made it into a label quiz. On the same token, I adopted a bunch of baseball stat quizzes that just needed info and a difficulty tweak. Reply #9. Nov 03 23, 8:22 AM |

I have 1 adoptee that is probably about 9 months old now, and I still haven't worked on it. The main reason for this is because I've had limited time over the summer, the quizzes I worked on were those new templates for the Author's Gallery. But my main hope for QuiWriMo is to get it polished off! Reply #10. Nov 03 23, 12:42 PM |

That explains it! I'm working on a quiz I adopted tonight as part of QuiWriMo, so I can get that cleared at least. It's the only one I have. Reply #11. Nov 03 23, 3:59 PM |

I'm glad to see this happen; it makes it more fair for everyone. Reply #12. Nov 03 23, 5:43 PM |

Just a question: is it possible to change ALL of the questions in an adopted quiz? I have one I'm working on where I'll keep the same subject, but tweak it into a different format and change all of the questions. Reply #13. Nov 06 23, 11:08 AM |
