The Challenge:
| | This challenge was a time-limited event during late October and early November 2019. It is no longer available.
2013... a weird rhyme that turned out to be a summoning spell. The Evil Twin was born.
2014... the threat of pumpkin goo bombs making everything unreadable.
2015... exploding kittens meant to destroy the Pot of Gold rainbow.
2016... a devastating virus and an equally damaging antidote.
2017... a graveyard whose lanterns were the last defense against the looming darkness.
2018... a mass of zombies invading and overrunning the site with our only defense being the right sports equipment.
2019... the stakes have only risen. With those new badge tiers and world class trivia leagues, there is all too much that the Evil Twin might be intent on conquering. Who knows what nefarious method he has devised this time?
We are all about to find out.
Before you head over to the game page, however, please mind the following rules:
- The most important rule: Unlike in the previous years, this year's challenge is a full community effort. It is allowed to exchange information with anyone you want - however that also means that the challenge could be spoiled quite quickly if you just blurt out a walkthrough. As such - please do not publicly post what you think are exact task requirements. Compare observations, exchange hints, nudge people in the right (or wrong) direction. If you want to discuss exact requirements, keep it in PMs or on team boards. Also, role-playing and going with the story is strongly encouraged and will add to everyone's experience!
- The challenge unfolds in seven consecutive chapters. Each chapter needs to be individually solved by 50 players before the next one unlocks. No one can win until the final chapter is unlocked, so you need to work together. It's not a race!
- The badgelet will be given to every player who completes the final (chapter 7) task. It will be upgraded for each task you personally complete, so if you manage to solve chapters 2, 5 and 7 before the event ends, you'll wind up with tier 3. If, on the other hand, you have chapters 1 to 6 but are missing the final one, you'd end up empty handed.
- You can score upgrades both before and after claiming the badgelet and you can of course complete tasks for yourself even after the community has unlocked the later ones - but until the final chapter is reached, you're of course best spending your time working on the most recent task and pushing the overall effort.
- At least one task will require that you are in a team. If you are not in a team, you will definitely not be able to reach tier 7.
- Playing the challenge will not require you to take any action that could negatively affect your ability to contribute to your team's league score. (So you can safely conclude that "score exactly 13 on the Daily Game" or "play Who am I in easy mode" are not tasks...)
- Once you have completed and claimed a task, it cannot be lost. Do however make sure to take a good look at each completion message because it may contain a vital clue and you will see that message only once - there is no way to retrieve it once you move away. (Of course you could ask another player who completes it after you or has kept better notes...)
- Each task will require some trivia-related activity. We're after all a trivia site.
