no. He hated school and in the 11th grade he took the G.E.D. exam. After getting the certificate, Nicolas landed a part as a surfer dude on a short-lived TV series called 'The Best of Times'.
Patricia. Nicolas saw Patricia Arquette at Canter's, a Jewish delicatessen in Los Angeles. 'The second thing I said to her was 'You're gonna be my wife.' She told him he was crazy, but he insisted she put him 'on a mission' to prove his love to her. She agreed, and asked him to bring her nearly impossible things to find, such as a black orchid and a genuine J.D. Salinger autograph. Little did he know, black orchids don't exist! He ended up spray-painting a purple one, only for her to catch him doing it right outside of her house! As for the autograph, he got really lucky and found one, even though Salinger was known to be a recluse and hardly ever signed autographs. When Patricia received the autograph, she finally asked him to stop and forget about the rest of the things she asked for. She admitted she wasn't sure she wanted to marry him. Patricia was extremely turned off by Nic's temper and decided to go back to her boyfriend. However, according to one interview, she would occasionally call him and tease, 'Still wanna marry me?' During their eight years apart, she had a son Enzo with musician Paul Rossi. One day, Patricia called Nic again and asked if he wanted to marry her. Only this time she was serious, and he said 'yes.' She showed up at his house wearing black vinyl and carrying a purple wedding cake. They were married April 8, 1995 on a cliff overlooking the ocean in Carmel, CA.
