Whatever It Takes. In 2000, James portrayed the character Chris Campbell in "Whatever It Takes" along with Shane West. He met Marla Sokoloff, who became his girlfriend on the set. They lived together for several years. "Whatever It Takes" (2000) is about two guys who will do whatever it takes to get the girls of their dreams before prom. James' character Chris is very popular in high school and can get any girl he wants but the one girl who doesn't want him, has his heart.
McDonalds. James worked at McDonalds while in high school. James stated: "I worked at a McDonalds' drive-through. I could always tell when girls were interested: They'd drive around again and say, I forgot something."
