Heartland - Characters
Huten. Huten is a wise horse healer who helps Amy with a horse who won't jump fences. He was a good friend of Marion's before she died. He taught Amy that the truest solutions come from within.
Amy's grandpa. Amy's grandpa started coughing, but wouldn't see a doctor. Then it got so bad that they had to call 911. It looked like he was going to die, but he slowly became well again. Amy's grandpa is the owner of Heartland.
Yes. Scott is Matt's older brother. He is a friend to everyone at Heartland. He and Lou started dating in the 3rd or 4th book. He is always there to help the horses when they need it.
Matt. Matt is Amy and Soraya's best friend. He comes over and helps with the horses when he can. His brother, Scott, is the equine vet. He asked Amy to be his girlfriend, but Amy didn't have the same kind of feelings for him so she said no. Then he started dating Ashley for a little while, but he broke up with her. Amy's relationship with him was shaken when he dated Ashley, but they mended it after he broke up with her.
Ashley. Ashley Grant is a snobby girl that lives at Greenbriar horse farm. Her family's farm teaches horses to behave by using force. She dated Matt for a little while, but then he broke up with her. In book 11, she went to Amy for help. Amy helped her and she was being really nice, but anfter Amy was done helping her she turned back into the snobby girl she had always been.
Ty. Ty has been Heartland's stablehand since he was fifteen. He spends a lot of his time at Heartland, but he has to take care of his mother too. She had some depression problems, so he did most of the work at his house too. His father isn't fond about his work at Heartland, so they don't have that great of a relationship. He is like a brother to Amy, but they started dating in the 6th book. They work side by side when orking with the horses. They always give eachother ideas. Amy doesn't know what she'd of done without Ty. In the latest book there was a storm and it put a hole in the roof of the back barn. Amy's grandpa inspected it, made sure it looked stable, and gave the all clear to go in and get the horses. Then, while they were in there, they heard the beams creak, so they decided to get the 2 horses out that were under the hole, but one of them was really scared and he rammed against his stall door and the roof came crashing down on Ty and the horse. Amy got out okay, but Ty was knocked unconcious. Now he is in a coma.
Marion Fleming. Marion Fleming was Amy's mother. In the first book she died in a car accident while trying to rescue a horse. Book 10 is the one year anniversary of her death. At the end, they all visit her grave. She taught Ty and Amy everything they know about healing horses. They use her methods all the time. Now they usually do the healing part of Heartland, but if it weren't for Marion, Heartland would cease to exist.
Soraya. Soraya is Amy's best friend. She is always there for her. Soraya helps out at Heartland during her free time. When Ben started working at Heartland, she developed a crush on him. I'm not sure if he really feels the same way, but they are good friends.
Lou. Lou lived in New York, but she moved to Heartland after her mom died. At first she was all business and she wouldn't see or ride the horses. Then she started to warm up to the little shetland named Sugerfoot that they rescued and finally decided to start riding again. She so badly wanted to get in touch with her father, but when he finally came to visit she realized that she didn't have that much in common with him. She still doesn't ride a lot, but she helps out with the horses more. When Ty went into a coma, she started helping out more, but she is still more the buisness side of Heartland.
Ben. Ben was hired when Heartland had too much work to do. He rides horses in shows. He had always loved his horse, but he thought that he had to be forceful with Red for him to be the best. Ty and Amy hated the way he treated Red. Then after a hard core training session, Red collapsed. Now Ben is a lot easier on him. Ben is still a big show person and he was mad when he had to stop going to shows when some horses from Heartland were infected with the equine flu. Then he realized how selfish he had been and had a different point of view from then on.
This character has not lived at Heartland all his/her life. He/she left his/her job as a banker to come help at Heartland. Who is this character? | "Heartland" Characters

Lou. Lou never lived at Heartland until her mother's accident. She hardly even visited Heartland because it reminded her too much of her dad. She mostly handles the business side of things at Heartland.
This character's methods were totally different from those of Heartland's. Only when a near fatal accident happens with his/her horse does he/she turn to all Heartland knows. Who is this character? | "Heartland" Characters

Ben. Ben lived at his aunt's stud farm. When Amy cures one of her horses, she wants to send her nephew, Ben, up to Heartland to learn all about alternative therapies.
This character is new to Heartland. He/she first started working at Heartland in books 16 and 17. He/she assisted with Venture's care. Who is this character? | "Heartland" Characters

Joni. Joni took Ben's place at Heartland. Her mother is a vet and skilled at acupuncture. Joni took over Venture's care and used acupressure to help him recover.

Soraya. Soraya and Amy have been best friends since the third grade. Soraya is always there for Amy. She loves to help out at Heartland and her favorite horse is the little pony, Jasmine.

Tim. Tim Fleming was in a show jumping accident twelve years ago. He was riding his horse Pegasus when his back leg caught the pole and they both came crashing down. He then abandoned his family. He came to Heartland in book 8 and Amy and Lou went to go see him in book 15.
This character is very emotional. He/she helps treat the horses and in his/her spare time likes to compete in jumping shows. He/she lives at Heartland. Who is this character? | "Heartland" Characters

Amy. Amy is the main character of the series. She is in high school. Amy's pony is named Sundance. In book 12 she had to make the decision whether to give up her other horse, Storm, or her work at Heartland.

Jack. Jack is Amy's grandpa. Before his daughter Marion started healing abused and injured horses, Heartland used to be a dairy farm.

Marion. Marion Fleming is Amy's mom. She died in the first book in a car accident. She used to be a show jumper but when her husband fell and was hurt badly and abandoned his family, she gave up jumping to help nurse his horse, Pegasus, back to health.
