Magnus. When Matilda wrote on the chalkboard to scare Trunchbull for Miss Honey she said it was Magnus writing. The Trunchbull believed that Miss Honey's father, whose death she was responsible for, had come back to haunt her but it was really just the clever Matilda.
a newt. Trunchbull blamed Matilda right away even though it wasn't Matilda who did it. Later Matilda gets her revenge with the writing on the chalkboard though so don't feel too sorry for her!
