marine stingers and salt water crocodiles. Many creek, river and estuary areas are unsafe for swimming due to the presence of aggressive salt water crocodiles, but these tend to be the muddy ones and there are much nicer places to swim. Marine stingers visit our beaches in the summer months, between October and June, so swimmers need to swim inside the large netted enclosures or wear a special suit. The best swimming during summer is offshore or in the many lakes and cool mountain creeks and rivers.
