Cricket. In a brief moment of clarity, he remembers the name of the Shetland pony he bought the boys. He then tells the children that he loves them.
Milk of magnesia. Mama Wheelis gives him a few spoons full. Burford then proceeds to drink the rest of the bottle, thinking it was a milkshake. After Mama Wheelis panics, Harmony, who used to be a pre-med major, tells her he should be fine since the bottle was only about 1/4 full.
Man in Chair. Bob Martin originated the role of Man in Chair. He won a Theatre World award and was nominated for a Tony for his performance. Man in Chair is a rare thing, a main character in a musical who doesn't sing a song!
I Remember Love. "Love is Always Lovely" is sung by Mrs. Tottendale and the Underling. The roles were originated on Broadway by Georgia Engel and Edward Hibbert, respectively. You may remember Hibbert from "Frasier", where he played Gil Chesterton.
A power bar. Bob Martin, the actor who originated the role, was married to the real-life Janet van de Graaf. In the show, Janet is played by Tony-winning actress Sutton Foster.
The Morosco Theater. The Second Stage is an Off-Broadway theater, and the Nederlander is a theater on Broadway itself. "The Drowsy Chaperone" itself opened in the Marquis Theatre.
Mimi. "Mimi" is a name that shows up in many musicals, from one of the strippers in "Miss Saigon" to Mimi Marquez in the rock opera "Rent". This Mimi's French origins are in dispute.
The Enchanted Nightingale. In the show, "Message from a Nightingale" is sung by Adolpho, Kitty, the Gangsters and the Drowsy Chaperone herself!
Rollerskating. My friends who have studied tap for several years dispute this claim, but I can tell you tbat rollerskating is indeed very dangerous, at least until you get the hang of it.
"Adollface". Adolpho was originated on Broadway by Danny Burstein, whose previous credits include "Company" and "A Class Act". He was nominated for a Tony for his work with "Chaperone".
By the pool of Mrs. Tottendale's house.. Janet van de Graaf was originated on Broadway by Sutton Foster, who was awarded a Tony for her role in "Thoroughly Modern Millie" in 2002 and who was again nominated for her role in "Chaperone" in 2006. She has also been seen in "Little Women" and "Les Miserables", playing Eponine.
