Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Akimbo and relaxed. In this song, Lawrence (played by John Lithgow) is telling the audience how he likes to pick up his women and how he plays them. In this part of the song he tells how he walks into a room and lets every woman there know that he is of some importance.
J-13. The usherette decides to put Lawrence in J-13. In this song it shows all of Lawrence's victims and how they still think of him as a prince. How silly of them.
Guccione. This song is the first song by Freddy (played by Norbert Leo Butz) on the CD. This is the song that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels sang at the 2005 Tonys. Norbert Leo Butz also won a Tony for his part in this show. This song tells the story of Freddy wanting "great big stuff" by conning women out of their money.
tree or a Jew. Jolene (played by Sarah Gettelfinger) sings the song of her lovely Oklahoma.
"And we'll wonder into Tulsa for the weekend,
Throught the windows of the pick up we'll be peekin'
Not a tree or a Jew,
to block the lovely view."
Pulling Stickers Off Hairy Skin. This song features mostly Lawrence disguised as a prince telling his newest victim about his tragic brother Ruprecht, or, should we say, Freddy.
The way to be. This song is the first time we meet Christine (played by Sherie Rene Scott, who was nominated for a Tony for this part). Christine has just arrived in Beaumont Sur Mer and is explaining to the audience how great she thinks this place is.
Tires. "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" was based on the movie staring Michael Caine and Steve Martin made in 1988. In this play, two con men make a bet to see who can $50,000 from heiress Christine Colgate, the "Soap Queen." In this song we see Freddy disguised as Sergeant Benson, a crippled soldier who lost the ability to walk after his love left him.
380 BC. The plot thickens as Lawrence shows up disguised as famous surgeon Dr. Emil Shuffhausen and decides to take a look at the tragic "Sergeant Benson." He starts off gently enough by just wiggling his toes...and then he gets out his whip and starts hitting him in the legs. While doing this, Dr. Shuffhausen tells Christine how he had to take the oath to not harm patients while attending medical school.
toes. Finally, a song that goes like this! One that starts off soft and low and ends with a kiss. Of course as you can tell this isn't your ordinary play, so the song that goes like this is only one sided since Freddy has been tricking poor sweet and innocent Christine...or is she innocent?
5 million. Now the climax of the play has passed and we are onto the falling action. The finale. Well, turned out Christine wasn't as sweet and innocent as once believed. Instead she has stolen the $50,000 dollars from Lawrence and Freddy. Turned out that Christine was the mysterious "Jackal" who had been reported on the news at the beginning of the show.

FREDDY: "Grandma?"
John Lithgow and Norbert Leo Butz. John Lithgow played Lawrence Jameson, a sophisticated British con artist, and Norbert Leo Butz played Freddy, an amateur con artist hoping to be recruited as Lawrence's apprentice.
He pretends to be a Prince of a made-up country. Lawrence tries to get women to "finance the Prince's mission to regain his throne." Freddy cons women by posing as a "selfless Red Cross worker trying to raise funds to help his ailing grandmother."
Lawrence's right-hand man. Andre was first played by Gregory Jbara. Andre is a corrupt police officer working for Lawrence. He is also French, made obvious by his accent.
Al Roker and Lorenzo Lamas. "A house in the Bahamas/ Paisley silk pajamas/ Poker with Al Roker and our friend Lorenzo Lamas!"
Upon witnessing a scene with Lawrence and Jolene, Lawrence's silghtly crazy new fiance, where Jolene talks all about her and Lawrence's new life together in her "little piece of heaven, Oklahoma." what is the first thing Freddy tells Lawrence about Jolene? | Dirty Rotten Guys Like Them!

"Well, she seems nice.". Of course, this response is sarcastic. Lawrence responds with "It's not funny," to which Freddy and Andre are silent for a second and then start laughing!
Lawrence's younger brother. Ruprecht is Lawrence's fictional younger brother played by Freddy to scare Jolene off. Ruprecht... well, let's just say he has major problems!
Whoever can swindle fifty thouand dollars out of Christine Colgate first, wins.. Christine Colgate is a new arrival in the Riviera, known as the "American Soap Queen." The loser of this bet has to leave town.
He asks her to place a bet for him.. Sargeant 'Buzz' Benson is a soldier supposedly paralysed from the waist down with what he calls "Dance Fever." Therefore, he is in a wheelchair.
Nothing Is Too Wonderful To Be True. As she sings; "Look at the way the moon behaves/ Look at the way she paints/ A silver ribbon on the waves/ Leading directly to me and you/ Nothing is too wonderful to be true."
A doctor that specializes in cases like Buzz's. Lawrence assumes the part of Dr. Emil Shuffhausen, the fictional character that he overhears Freddy saying is the only doctor that can treat Buzz's case.
Muriel. Muriel is a woman who Lawrence was trying to con, so she already believes he is a prince. However, when she starts talking to Lawrence like a prince when he is supposed to be posing as Dr. Shuffhausen, Lawrence recruits Andre to distract her so she doesn't ruin his new scam. Andre and Muriel soon fall in love.
If Freddy will suceed in seducing Christine. Lawrence finds out that Christine isn't really rich; she just won a trip to the Riviera in a soap jingle contest. So she sold almost everything she had, all to pay Dr. Shuffhausen's fifity thousand dollar fee for Buzz's treatment. Lawrence tells Freddy that the bet is off, and they agree on this new bet.
Love= Legs, Faith= Feet, Hope= Hand. In the song "Love Is My Legs", Christine inspires Buzz to miraculously stand up and walk to her!
When they see a note from Christine. After "Love is My Legs," Lawrence, realizing he might lose his bet, takes Freddy away and hides him somewhere. Lawrence then sends Christine out of town on a train. However, Christine never gets on the train and goes back to confess her love to Freddy. They go to kiss and Christine knocks Freddy out. Chrisitne goes to Lawrence's mansion crying and tells Lawrence that Freddy stole $50,000 from her while she was sleeping. Lawrence feels bad and gives Christine $50,000 of his own money to compensate for her loss. Christine takes it, then gives it back out of the goodness of her heart. Meanwhile, Freddy wakes up with everything he had with him, even his clothes, gone. He is taken to Lawrence's mansion by two policemen. Lawrence gets mad at Freddy for stealing from Christine, which Freddy claims he didn't do. They open the briefcase filled with money that Christine gave back, only to find the money gone, replaced with Freddy's clothes, and a note saying "Goodbye boys. It was fun. Love, The Jackal." They've been scammed!
Lawrence is thinking of retiring as a con artist, when Christine comes back and pulls Lawrence and Freddy into her own scam.. They then decide to scam the world together! I hope you had fun playing this dirty rotten quiz!
