Gypsy
Ann Jillian. Her name, at the time, was spelled Jilliann.
'Together Wherever We Go'. The cut song is featured on the DVD release, and was cut for VERY good reasons. Although Russell's voice was augmented by Lisa Kirk in much of the film, in this number Wood, Malden and Russell sang the entire song. None are known for their strong singing, and the finished product is dreadful.
Play scenes. Stripper Tessie is too good to feed lines to bum comics! Louise jumps in and agrees to do it, her first step to stripper-dom.
Cow. The boys in the act surprise Louise with homemade and 'clipped' gifts.
Suzanne Cupito. The actress had a successful childhood career, also appearing in 'Yours, Mine and Ours' with Lucille Ball. As an adult, her resemblance to Vivien Leigh led to more than one appearance as the actress.
Paul Wallace. Although the producers chose not to bring Ethel Merman to the silver screen, they brought along the much-too-old Wallace to play a teen boy.
Wichita. Louise was appearing with her act 'Rose Louise and her Hollywood Blondes' when the star stripper was arrested for shoplifting. Originally, the stripper was arrested for 'soliciting', but film censors thought this too risque for early '60's movie-goers.
Gotten married. Unlike 'West Side Story', Natalie Wood did her own singing in this film. Other than one note, at the end of 'Little Lamb', that's all Natalie on the soundtrack. Only on 'Together' did La Wood deliver clinker after clinker.
Louise tells Rose '...get one of your own, because you can't have mine.' To what is she referring? | Gypsy: The Movie Musical

An ulcer. This climactic scene is a tour-de-force for Natalie Wood. Her transition from the child-like Louise to the adult Gypsy is capped by this rant at her domineering mother.
Dutch. Uncle Jocko was played by Karl Malden, who also played Herbie. This double casting is not in the original B'way script, but Herbie does not appear until much later in the play. In order to bring Malden in sooner, producers came up with this interesting but uncharacteristic casting twist.
Plug. Yes, everyone called her Plug, though I have no idea why, but I really would like to know, if anyone knows, please let me know.
June. In real life, they divorced shortly after they were married. June was allegedly 13 and was divorced at 15.
Tessie Tura. She was known as 'Tessie Tura the Texas Twirler.'
Agnes. Once she became an actress, Agnes changed her name to Amanda.
Yonkers. Louise also received a sewing kit from June, a lamb from Rose and Herbie, a picture of a fish from Angie, a stuffed cat from L.A., and books from Tulsa.
false . They planned to, but he walked out on her after she forced Louise into stripping. In real life, the character of Herbie was based on a Jewish man, who left Rose when she asked him to change religions.
Who got Rose's act booked on the Orphieum circuit, with a song sung in their honor? | 'Gypsy' The Musical
|
Mr. Goldstone. This is just before the act went from 'Baby June and her Newsboys' to 'Dainty June and her Farmboys.'
9. She had to tell people she was 9 going on 10, even though she was almost a teenager.
10. She always had 10 candles, because according to Rose, no one in the act was over 12.
What magazine was scheduled to photograph Gypsy towards the end of the show? | 'Gypsy' The Musical
|
'Vogue'. Eventually they would photograph her in the bathtub.
Caroline. 'I have a new cow, a moo cow, a true cow named Caroline, she's an extra special friend of mine.'
'Rose's Turn'. It is the big finale.
Georgie. Georgie was a small part, but still had his moments.
Louise. Louise, at this point, is the no-talent kid of Rose and one of her former husbands. June is Louise's sister.
Herbie. After quitting show business, Herbie went into the candy business, until he was dragged back into show business by Rose.
Mister Goldstone. This should be an easy one because an entire song revovled around him.
Monkey. How can Rose afford a monkey?
Ten. Yonkers makes the observation, before Rose tells him that no one in the act is ever twelve.
Money. How could Rose afford to give Louise money?
Miss Cratchitt. This way a very good role. Her dead-pan humor is great.
