Urinetown
Officer Lockstock. He began the show and added many comments throughout. Although Little Sally does add a lot to what he says, she is not the official narrator.
Spencer Kayden. She was hysterical! In my opinion the best part of the show was Little Sally's commentary. Nancy Opel was Penny Pennywise when I saw it, and Jennifer Laura Thompson was Hope. Sutton Foster is from "Thoroughly Modern Millie".
the bunny. "Don't Be the Bunny" is probably one of the funniest songs in the musical!
Amenity #9. It was known as "the poorest, filthiest urinal in town".
Urine Good Company . Or UGC, for short. At the end, Hope changes its name to "Bobby Strong Memorial Toilet Authority".
a bad title. This and bad subject matter. She also thinks that the story should revolve around hydraulics. However, Officer Lockstock says that it's better to focus on one little thing instead of a big problem.
urinating illegally. Throughout the show we see Old Man Strong and his son, Bobby, get sent there, although Bobby was sent there because he was the leader of the riots.

a blast of cool wind. Bobby tells him that freedom is a scary thing, kinda weird huh? And also, the song, is kind of weird. They are telling freedom to run away, but if you think about it, they are telling it to run away from Cladwell's grasp.

Yes. Laws ran the town more than they run the USA which is a huge deal. The play was a satire on American government, among other things. Kudos to them for making a satire on one of the strongest governments in the world at the time!
In the last song, Hope sings an inspirational gospel entitled "I See A River." In this song, who is dying of a fever and wishes for just a cool glass of water? | Urinetown

Josephine Strong. She joins her son and husband, but in the end, everyone will join them eventually.

happy. Little Sally thinks that a happy musical and a better title will make more people want to see it. She does admit that the music is happy.

it got filthy and eventually disappeared. Little Sally: "What kind of musical is this? The good guys finally take over and then everything starts falling apart?"
Lockstock: "Like I said, Little Sally. This isn't a happy musical."
Little Sally: "But the music's so happy!"
Lockstock: "Yes, Little Sally. Yes it is."
2. Officer Lockstock and Officer Barrel. Josephine Strong says, "They have 1, 2 -- 2 men and we're all so poor."
Officer Lockstock. In Act 2, he confesses his love, just before he is murdered by the rioting Poor.
Penelope Pennywise. "Hope is my daughter." *gasp*
"And I am her mother." *bigger gasp*
Everyone has to use public bathrooms in order to take care of their private business. "Well, Little Sally, suffice it to say that in "Urinetown" (the musical)

Little Sally and Officer Lockstock talk about hydraulics later in the show, but he dismisses them as unimportant to the show, because "Sometimes, in a musical, it's better to focus on one big thing than a lot of smaller things... the audience likes it better and it's easier to write."
9. "As the sign says, it's a 'public amenity', meaning public toilet. These people have been waiting for hours to get in. It's the only amenity they can afford to get into.... if you're down on your luck you have to come to a place like this -- one of the poorest, filthiest urinals in town."
Robert Thomas Malthus. "Hail Malthus!"
Robert Thomas Malthus was known for his theory that because population grows at a rate greater than that of food production, the Earth will be unable to sustain the human race beyond a certain point. Water consumption would likewise be affected.
