 Dreamcatcher
1978. The year 1978 is referred to a lot in this book.
Cancer . His wife, Tabitha King, simply refused to call it that. She said it was morbid and an invitation for bad luck. Or something like that. So he changed it to 'Dreamcatcher'.
Becky Shue. The first and probably only time Stephen King uses my first name, and he uses it on a fat, incapacitated, byrum harboring woman, who dies anyway. How rude.
McCarthy. Jonesy thinks to himself several times that he should have shot McCarthy, throughout the book. Would it have done any good? Maybe.
Scooby Doo. 'You like these guys? I mean, they never change their clothes...'
yellow. The book refers to the color, only about once or twice, I believe.
cakepans . He got upset at Jonesy for not telling him right away what the word was, and making him look like a fool.
bacon. Duddits and Jonesy use the suggestion of bacon to slow Mr. Gray down, so that Henry, Duddits, and Underhill can catch up, even a little bit.
cribbage. Duddits would be the one doing the pegging. Jonesy later found out, when he was imprisoned in his own head, that Duddit's would peg backwards someone if they had made him mad or something. They thought that he would peg them way backwards, or way forward, just because he was retarded, and didn't know any better.
Roberta Cavell . Beav fell instantly in love with her when she commented on his leather jacket. He was completly infatuated with that jacket.
Laurie Sue. Their marriage failed horribly, or so we hear.
Mr. Trask. Recognize the name? That was the name of the man in the cell beside Lloyd Henried's in 'The Stand'.
an astronaut. But, as Jonesy would say, Pete wasn't exactly the brightest bulb in the chandelier, so he became a car salesman.
Duddits. Duddits 'See's the line'. This phrase that the four friends use confuses the Gray Man.
History. Jonesy is a History Professor.
Douglas Cavell. Duddits's name is Douglas Cavell, but everyone, even his mother, calls him Duddits because that's how he pronounces his own name.
McCarthy. His name was Richard 'Rick' McCarthy. His body was invaded the one type of the aliens. The one inside him killed The Beaver.
Gary. Beaver, Pete, Jonesy, and Henry are the four friends whose lives are forever changed by a gift they are given when they save Duddits.
He has Down's Syndrome. Duddits has Down's Syndrome.
Henry and Jonesy. Henry and Jonesy are the only two to survive. Pete and Beav are both killed by the aliens. Owen is shot,after saving Jonesy, by Freddy. Duddits dies in the car after helping Henry and Owen track Jonesy and Mr.Gray to Stack 12.
Hospital Room. Jonesy finds Mr. Gray in the hospital room that he himself occupied after his car accident years ago.
Barry Newman. Henry later finds out that Barry died shortly after their appointment.
Saturday. He was checking this whilst on the phone to Henry. They were discussing visiting Duddits.
David Defuniak. David Defuniak had cheated on a mid-term exam.
Lawyer. "He's a Lawyer like me, down in Skowhegan".
Mouseturds. Janet Jones was Jonesy's mother.
The Mary M. Snowe School for the Exceptional. Jonesy, Henry, Pete and The Beav used to pick him up at 7:45 am and walk him there every morning.
Richie Grenadeau. 'Picking on' is an understatement.
