Binta. Binta was Kunta's mother. Her maiden name was Kebba. She gave Omoro four sons.

4. During the recapture of Kunta on the fourth time, he was caught by two white professional slave catchers. They gave him the choice of either being castrated or having half a foot cut off. Luckily for Alex Haley, Kunta chose his foot.
He had half a foot cut off. Because half of his foot was cut off, Kunta was sold to Dr. William Waller, who saved his life. Because of his handicap, he could no longer work in the fields and so he became his Massa's buggy driver.
Toby. Massa John Waller gave Kunta the name Toby.
Dr. William Waller. Kunta and the Fiddler were given to Dr. William Waller by John Waller, because he owed his brother money.
buggy driver. Because he was maimed, Dr. Waller made Kunta his buggy driver. This gave Kunta the opportunity to see more of the area in which he lived.
Fiddler. Fiddler was Kunta's best friend on the Waller plantation. Fiddler taught Kunta the English language.

They would get sold away.. When a massa knew that a slave could read, that slave was immediately sold away.
Missy Anne. Missy Anne was Dr. Waller's neice.
Waller's plantanion in Enfield.. Kunta met Pompey, a fellow Ghanian, at the Waller's plantation in Enfield. This plantation belonged to Dr. Waller's parents. They had recently aquired Pompey right before Kunta met him on one of the trips to Enfield that the massa went on.
Mortar and pestle. One day, Kunta made Bell a mortar and pestle. He did this because he liked her.
