Hoh, Diane
Nightmare Hall. "Nightmare Hall" is a series of books about scary happenings in Salem University. It is said, in the books, that the Hall (that's real name is Nightingale Hall) was where a girl named Giselle hung herself and to this day, her ghost still haunts the place.
Danni, Margot, Lacey and Mouse. Danni Spelling, Maureen "Mouse" Ross, Lacey Sakurada and Margot Hanes. Danni was the cool girl, her roommate Margot is secretive, Lacey (my favourite) is a party girl and her roommate Mouse is very shy.
the Dungeon. "Ten times round it is half a mile". It has laundry rooms, television rooms, candy machines and piano rooms among other stuff. Sounds pretty cool to me.
Jordan. Using some smooth words too. Jordan: "You're a freshman, right?" Danni: "Yes, I am. I'm not going to ask how you can tell." Jordan: "Because I don't remember Salem looking this good last year. Which means you're either a freshman or a transfer student..."
Kennelham Hall. Kennelham Hall, otherwise know as the "Kennels" is "a small alternative residence for those whose lifestyle is not suited to the larger collective environment." Meaning those who partied so hard they got kicked out of the dorms.
2A and 2B. Lacey and Mouse share 2A while Danni and Margot share 2B.
0. Despite the big show Danni made about being threatened over the phone, she never actually got any. They were all in her head.
Cary Grant. She told Danni this while they were in the cafeteria. This was one of the few moments she opened up to anyone.
Psycho. Pretty appropriate. Around this stage of the book, Danni is starting to lose it.
California. She lived in a huge house and had a whole wing of it for herself. But it wasn't all roses for her. She had bars on her windows and was constantly watched by nurses as she was psychotic.
Chips and M&Ms. Taco chips to be exact. I so can't wait to try this combination.
Amber cashmere. It was Danni's sweater, that she lent to Margot for the party. It later got torn to shreds and covered with red nailpolish. What a waste...
The Chronicle . The girls gave her a complete makeover, complete with haircut and new wardrobe. Lacey then "accidently" met up with Pete, a member of the paper, while she was out with Mouse.
Margot. Down in the dungeon, during the blackout, Danni first attacked Lacey then chased after Margot. Luckily for Margot, the police and Mouse turned up before she got hurt.
she was raised by foster parents after her parents died. She hid this fact because she thought nobody would like her. She also tried copying the way Danni acted and dressed before she realised that Danni wasn't "normal."
she was a straight A student. Lacey didn't like the way people labelled her as smart because she got good grades, so when she went to college she set out to make people think she was a partying bimbo. But Mouse realised how smart she was when she figured out the truth about Danni. It probably didn't help her story when she got drunk and started quoting Robert Frost.
silver. I think after what she went through she deserved a nice hot shower.
the one at the furthest end. We found this out when Danni had a shower just before the first blackout and at the end, when Margot had a shower.
her letter-opener. I hope you enjoyed my quiz and if you haven't read this book yet, then go out and read it now. And make some more quizzes about Diane Hoh.
Dorothy. Duffy Quinn is the main character in this book, but her real name is actually Dorothy, even though most people call her Duffy. You never actually know that her real name is Dorothy until one of the nurses called her by that name. Duffy prefers to be called by this nickname, rather than Dorothy.
Twelvetrees. The entire story takes place in the Twelvetrees Community Hospital, located in Twelvetrees, Maine. The hospital is described as being damp and covered with mold and wilting ivy. Residents of Twelvetrees often complain about the hospital not looking very welcoming, but they don't have the money to build a new one.
shoe store. After Kit became an orphan, he went live with his aunt and uncle, who were described by Jane as making Scrooge seem nice. Since his uncle owns the shoe store, Kit worked there.
Victor Latham. Victor was a rich man of high standing in the town. He was accidentally killed by Cynthia, when she confused his medications with those of another patient.
put a skeleton in an empty bed. For a joke, Smith put a skeleton from the lab into one of the empty beds, and nearly gave a stroke to the nurse who found it. Luckily Smith did not get fired for this, but he did get a lecture.
What color was the razor Duffy used to defend herself against her unknown attacker in the shower? | "The Fever" by Diane Hoh
|
pink. When Duffy was being attacked in the shower, she used a pink razor to slash at her attacker, which made her attacker, Cynthia, leave.
Digoxin. Cynthia switched Duffy's medication with the missing Digoxin, a heart medication. After Jane's brother ran tests on it, Duffy, and later Dylan, found out that Duffy had been given the wrong medicine.
the quarry. Cynthia told Duffy about all of the things that she had done throughout the course of the book, including the murder of Kit. Because of her confession, the police were able to find Kit's body in the quarry.
Cynthia. At the end of the book, we finally find out who attacked Duffy and Kit. Cynthia tells Duffy everything that she had done, and is later captured and left for the police to deal with.
I hope you enjoyed my quiz. Thanks for playing!
