She's just had a baby. Yes, Claire is 29, stuck in London and got a small baby so she goes back home to her family for some love and support.
Rachel Walsh. Another member of the nutty Walsh family. There are 5 sisters - Claire, Rachel, Margaret, Anna and Helen.
The Cloisters. She expects to meet many celebrities there but it's not what she thought! She has a tough time, but it works.

James. James is technically Claire's husband even though they have split up. James is also Kate's father. They are waiting for a divorce so they are still married.
On the day she gives birth. James decided the best time to tell Claire he was in love with someone else was when their daughter was only a few hours old. He couldn't leave her while she was pregnant in case she miscarried, and if he waited until Claire brought the baby home, he wouldn't be able to leave. What a time to be told your marriage is over!
Anna. Anna likes to use drugs while partying. Although, she did give them up when her sister Rachel attended a treatment center for cocaine, valium and alcohol.
Ireland. Claire is originally from Ireland and most of her family still live there. Claire lived in London with James until he left her, so she ran back to Ireland to be with her family.
Denise. Denise is a woman who lives nearby to where Claire and James were living. Claire was outraged that he left her for someone who isn't skinny. They eventually broke up.

"Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married. "Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married" was Marian Keyes' first best selling novel. It is about a woman who is told she will be getting married within the next year, but she has no boyfriend. Very funny book.
Adam. Adam is a boy who goes to school with Helen. Claire was very attracted to him but wasn't interested because he was too young; she was getting over her marriage break-up and she wanted to be the best mom she could to baby Kate. Towards the end, it looks like she might end up with James, but she soon realises that James is trying to manipluate her and she really loves Adam.
Walsh. 'Watermelon' is Marian Keyes' first novel; it was released in 1995. The story is about a new mother whose husband leaves her after admitting he had an affair during her pregnancy. Claire is left to raise her baby Kate alone, so she returns home to her parents in Ireland for help.
'Watermelon' was also made into a TV series with Anna Friel in the starring role.
No. Released in 1996, the story tells of Lucy, who goes to a psychic that predicts she will be married within a year's time of the visit. She finds a boyfriend Gus, who is very unreliable and ends up getting her work friend pregnant. At the end of the book she is together with her best friend Daniel, who has been in love with her for a very long time, but they do not marry.
'Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married' has also been made into a TV series, with Sam Loggin playing the role of Lucy.
Cloisters. 'Rachel's Holiday', released in 1998, is about a young woman fighting a drug addiction that she does not believe she has. During the course of the story she comes to the realisation that she is an addict and that she treated her best friend and boyfriend very badly.
This is the second Marian Keyes book to feature a Walsh sister.
Hodgkins Disease. This story is based on three best friends- Tara, Katherine and Fintan. Tara lives with a man who always criticises her but she doesn't want to leave him as she feels she is too old to start again. Katherine is a very self contained woman, who we later find out had a doomed relationship when she was at an impressionable age so she never recovered. Fintan is happily together with his partner, until he discovers he has Hodgkins Disease.
'Last Chance Saloon' has been made into a French film 'Au secours, j'ai trente ans!'
Magazine/Journalism. Ashling is a girl starting a job at a new trendy magazine. Lisa is her horrible boss, who after a few months in Ireland finds herself a much kinder person. Jack is their editor who Ashling falls in love with. Clodagh is Ashling's friend who is beginning to feel her life is getting too repetitive.
Marian Keyes spent a week working in a fashion magazine as preparation for the novel. The story about this can be found in 'Under the Duvet'.
Los Angeles. After finding out her husband has cheated on her and that she has lost her job, Maggie catches a flight to Los Angeles and lives with her screen writer friend Emily. Maggie experiences life as she has never known it and realises that she can forgive her husband Garv (Paul) for his infidelity.
This is the third novel to feature a Walsh sister.
JoJo, Lily and Gemma. JoJo works for a book publisher, Lily is a novelist and Gemma is Lily's ex-best friend.
The three all have stories linked into each other. JoJo is having an affair with one of the partners and after finding out he didn't vote for her as the new partner she quits to start again, taking Lily and Gemma as her clients. Lily and Gemma have a past history of friendship until Lily started going out with Gemma's ex whom she was still in love with, causing the friendship to cease quickly!
Anna. Anna's story is 'Is There Anybody Out There?' a very emotional story about a woman whose husband dies in a car crash. Anna thinks she can still hear and see him, until she finally accepts his death. She also finds out that before they were married he fathered a child with his childhood sweetheart, which is what he was going to tell her on the night of his death.

A Mud Wrap. Marian decided that she needed to lose weight quickly before her wedding in three days, so she went to have a mud wrap.
