There is carpeting everywhere. Dali says that "Carpet is the source of all sinus infections."
Susan, his fiance. Originally, John had said the picture was of his sister, but later he admitted that Susan had been his fiance.
His scarves. Dali is always taking off his scarves and throwing them down to be dramatic. At one point, Alice tries to pick up his scarf off the floor and Dali won't let her touch it.
His heart and his loins. The present is a bundle of cutlery. Alice then goes to put them in a vase.
Oklahoma. Alice moved because Oklahoma wasn't interesting.
with affection. John "Do you think of me outside of work?"....Alice "Sometimes I think of you with affection."
Mouse. No man wants to be told that he is a mouse.
a hookah . "A hookah...h-o-o-k-a-h...no I'm not kidding." is what Alice says to Shirley on the phone in the first scene.
Voltaire. Alice tells John that she sees the bust of Voltaire, just after John lables Dali's pictures as naughty and offensive.
Tapioca. Disney labeled John's plan for "Alice in Wonderland" as vanilla pudding. John says he likes vanilla pudding, but Alice says she prefers tapioca.
Couch. John "Did you say a cup of couch?"
New York City. There is a park in NYC.
Lobster Salad Sandwich . John says that lobster salad sounds fancy and Alice replies that it is.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich .
Rice. Alice states this when talking to Shirley on the telephone.
Shirley. Shirley is who Alice orders the items from at the begining of the play.
Black. The list did not specify what type of tea, so Alice told Shirley to order black tea.
perspiring. Alice says he is fine, and he returns his arm to its poisition around her shoulder.
arthritis. At least that's what his doctor says.
dig a hole to China. John wanted to learn to fly. Alice tried to dig a hole to China, but only got as far as what looked like an open grave.
jittery. It makes him feel jittery and all jangled up, just like it's supposed to.
wipe his feet. There is not mud in West Hollywood.
comfortable. Alice brought her couch to work so that John would recreate the "scene of the crime."
Bananas. The restaurant has a banana tree out front....much more exciting than having a banana malt.
a cotton tail. "Rabbits don't have tails per se." The cotton tail later shows up in John's chair.
black. The white he sees is a ghostly white.
Artists. While artists can wait for inspiration, animators must continually work toward their deadline.
seduction. The event that eventually gives Dali inspiration was watching Juan and Alice at the soirée.
Edible. He says this after he says that he wants to eat Alice.
