Peretti, Frank
Piercing the Darkness. "Piercing the Darkness" continued the story of the angels and other saints they helped. Peretti has written a great many novels, including the children's book series about the Coopers.
Susan. Susan had originally sought to find the murderer of her roommate, Pat, but she fell under Kasaph's spell.
Alexander Kasaph. Kasaph and his men were secretly buying out everything in Ashton from the college to local stores and homes. He and his men were threatening people to get them to sell.
Madeline. Madeline was actually a demon possessing Sandy. Juleen Langstrat was the professor that taught New Age religions at the college. Mary was Hank's wife, and Kate was Marshall's wife.
No. Hank was the minister of a small church of saints. He prayed constantly for the town of Ashton, and the angels watched over him. Alf Brummer was the corrupt sheriff.
Ashton. Ashton is just a typical small town in America...a typical little town with a spiritual war brewing.
Ba-al Rafar. Rafar and Lucius fought continually over who was greater. In the end, it was Tal and the Heavenly Host that defeated them both and won back Ashton.

six. Frank Peretti receives praise and high reviews of his spiritually based thriller novels, so it becomes difficult for his fans to wait so long in between novels. It's hoped the next one out won't be so long in coming.
his phone number. The creatures that have captured Beck are drawn to an area where there is fresh store bought fruit, and it is here that Beck scrawls part of Reed's phone number in the sand, alerting him that she is alive after all.
Rachel. Beck names the creature Rachel from the Bible story of Rachel and Leah, on account it appears Rachel has no child and the other creature does. Beck begins to have compassion and less fear of the creature once she begins to understand some of its actions.

a very noticable stench. Reed and Beck are being chased by two monsters, yet they don't realize it at the time. What they do notice is the incredible smell that indicates one of the monsters is close by. They noticed whistles, and a scream like a terrified woman as well.

Randy Thompson . Randy never met up with his friends as he met a very untimely death and his cabin became demolished by the monster.

buries it under the log pile. The first action of the book seems odd in that a hunter goes out of his way to make the victim look as if he was killed by a pile of logs falling on him. This whole sequence makes sense after reading the book.
She needs to build her confidence. Reed, a tough deputy sheriff, wants to expand his wife's horizons, so to speak, and thinks a camping trip would "toughen" her up. Little did they know Beck would prove to be tougher then anyone thought her to be.
Beck . Beck is the shortened form of her full name, Rebecca. Because of her severe stuttering she sometimes has difficulty saying her "r's" very well, causing her to reduce her name so she can say it without stumbling over it.
Idaho. Frank Peretti follows the seasoned advice of writing about what you know, and living in the Pacific Northwest helps him write about the rugged outdoors of the Idaho/Washington area.
