He was paralyzed in a car accident. Clyde was in a car accident with Rindy, and he broke his back in the fall. But he was the one driving, not Rindy, thus breaking Susan's vendetta against her innocent friend.
Claudia Schaefer. Melanie's mother hires Claudia Schaefer for her daughter. Unfortunately, Schaefer doesn't even believe Melanie, so the two don't get along.
Scrabble. In her dream, Melanie is told to play Scrabble by Rindy, who is dead. Melanie later uses this clue to determine that Susan Trels is really Stan Russel!
Captain Michael Crosser. Captain Michael Crosser is the only one who hears Melanie out, and he does try to help her throughout the rest of the book. By the way, Mike Olson is in another Christopher Pike book (series), "Final Friends"!
Melissa grabs Ronda's bag by accident. Melissa grabs Ronda's purse by accident. She suspects that Tracy switched the bags on purpose just to make life difficult. She decided she'd "buy anyone who noticed the inconsistency an ice cream".
"Tell our mom that your dad 'favors' silver over gold.". Carl and Rindy Carpenter tell Melanie that their mother is very snotty, and Carl mentions that their mother's favorite word is "favors" and that she just bought fifty grand's worth of silver. Therefore, "Tell our mom, Melanie, that your dad 'favors' silver over gold".
Charles. Tracy is Clyde's younger sister. In the play "Final Chance", Mary (Tracy's character) is Charles's (Marc's character) sister.
Sadie Hawkins. Melanie asks Marc to the Sadie Hawkins dance, and he agrees - she even has to pay for the tickets!
Stan Russel. Susan Trels cleverly hides her name by making it "Stan Russel" and thus fooling the actors and audience.
Rodney Rosenberg. Jeramie pretends he is Rodney Rosenberg, and later, Susan tells Melanie, "Jeramie is a number of people."
Jane Retton. In the book "Gimme A Kiss", Jane Retton sought revenge against those who did her wrong. Her scheme to achieve it is the main plot in this excellent book.

Slumber Party. Dana Miller is the driver at the beginning of "Slumber Party". She's driving through rough mountain areas.
"My sleep, as our plane neared Greece, changed, but I cannot say how.". While Josie Goodwin, the main character in "The Immortal", would probably have said all of those things, the first line in the book is "My sleep, as our plane neared Greece, changed, but I cannot say how."
The Eternal Enemy. In "The Eternal Enemy", Rela is just a normal teenage girl... so she thinks at first!
