New Hope. It was named New Hope because that is what it was. There was new hope in the land because there was no longer any threat from the killing machines.
No. Kel was sure that she would be taken to Traitor Hill for breaking a direct command. However, she was not in trouble at all.
Kel. Kel was astounded when Wyldon gave her the command of Haven. She had assumed that she would be given a fighting duty.
Haven. Haven is the name of the refugee camp. Kel named the camp. When she told the wood carver the name, she specifically said that there should be no "fort" in the name.

Jousting. Kel is a very good jouster. She won almost all of her challenges; even Lord Wyldon did not unseat her.
Lerant. It took a while for Lerant to realize that Kel didn't want to take over his job.

Faleron. Faleron froze when they were attacked, so Kel had to jump in.

Jump. Kel saved Jump after he stole some sausages from the cook. After that he wouldn't leave.
No. Kel does not have a black eye on the cover of the second book. However, she does have one on the cover of the first book. This was due to a fight that she had soon before leaving Mindelan for Corus.
Piers of Mindelan. It was not Baron Piers that Kel had to talk around when she wanted to be a knight, it was her mother, Ilane.
Come back next year. He advises her not to, but doesn't forbid her to.
Spidren. Trick question. She fought a spidren at the beginning of the book, too. A taurus is a man with a bull's head.
Veralidaine Sarrasri. Daine, as she is usually called, is a Wildmage. She can speak to and understand animals. Lord Wyldon is the training master. Merric is another first year page.
Peachblossom. Crown is the name of one of Kel's sparrows. Lord Raoul thinks that the horse's name is Peony. Joren is one of the pages.
The King's Champion. Alanna was also the first lady knight in over one hundred years. Kel's mother is Baroness Ilane of Mindelan. The King's Own accepts only men into its ranks.
Knight. Kel is already a page when she starts training. Yes, she is on probation, but her final goal is to become a knight. Thanks to wildmage0013 for correcting my wrong answer in the original quiz.
Spidren. A spidren is a huge, hairy spider with a human head. She has a teacher, Tkaa, who is a basilisk. Centaurs are half horse, half person. Hurroks are winged horses with claws and fangs. Nasty! :0
Keladry . Keladry is called Kel most of the time.
horse blood. They are running around the curtain wall and Neal is way up ahead. Merric was running with Kel and Seaver. She is scared of heights so runs behind them so that she doesn't have to look up.
Duke Baird. Lord Wyldon is the training master and Sir Gareth is meant to be Gary from "The Song of the Lioness" series but it's not his proper title. Sir Alanna is Alanna without all of her feifs as well.
Goddess. She says this when hunting spindrens. Mithros is the other Great God but he doesn't have the moon. Kyprioth is a Trickster God which we hear about in "Tricksters Choice/Queen". Gainel is the Dream God.
Stump. Everyone else starts calling Lord Wyldon that as well. Just not to his face! They called Kel Lump, which is sort of alike.
Chipper. Alanna's first horse was named Chubby. She kept it for quite a while until George found Moonlight for her. Kel's horse that she got at the palace is named Peachblossom. The horse that Raoul gives her when she joins The King's Own she names Hoshi.
Crown. She named her Crown, because of the crown shaped marking on her. Kel decided that she was the head female because she always got to the food first, and for other reasons. As far as I know Kel never named any other sparrows Queen, Star, or Diamond.
weapons from Raven Armory. Alanna sent her these things anonymously because she was forbidden to help Kel. She sent them anonymously in case Kel decided to tell someone such as King Jonathon or Lord Wyldon. Kel probably wouldn't have, though, because she didn't like King Jonathon and just probably wouldn't have told Lord Wyldon.
Conal. Piers is Kel's dad, and Ilane is her mom. Anders is Kel's brother who was crippled in the Immortal's War. Conal was always doing something to Kel, like hitting her. This time one of the maids heard Kel screaming. Piers threatened to disown him!
Keladry of Mindelan. Kel spent most of her life on the Yamani Islands and has only just returned to Tortall and Mindelan. Her favourite place in Mindelan used to be at the top of the highest tower. That was before her older brother held her, by her ankles, over the side.
