Nash. After selling her the book, Nash sends out his son as a highwayman to retrieve the manuscript. Gabriel realizes and eventually gets it back from Nash. Of course.
Morte d'Arthur. Gabriel searches for it because it was one of his most prized manuscripts, given to him by his father, which he was forced to sell.
Trowbridge. She originally attempted to escape this marriage by eloping with Gabriel; she later rethought and went through with the happy union.
Crimson. She needed it after all of her clothes were ripped away...
Honora. Surely the wrong name for such a woman, hmm...
cards. Not only does she enjoy gambling, but also views her sons-in-law as potential bankers. Poor Gabriel.
Lancelot. Appealing to Phoebe's love of the Arthurian, he calls himself thus and tries to win her back. Little did he know Phoebe had more sense than that!
Audeo. Latin for "I dare," it certainly suits the two of them and their reckless ways well.
The Quest. He, however, publishes anonymously, which makes sense what one sees the treatment given after he is unmasked!

Dark Moonlight. Gabriel makes a set of these south sea pearls and binds them in the manuscript of "The Lady and the Tower".
Devil's Mist. Despite being crumbling and drafty, Phoebe quickly falls in love with the castle of her own.
Lacey. He is also Phoebe's associate, and very often fond of overimbibing.

Immodest Immogen. She was called this when she was discovered by two people in a bedchamber with Vanneck, her bestfriend's husband.
Cold-blooded Colchester. He attained this nickname because of the many things he did that the ton did not approve of. He opened a gaming hell, The Lost Soul, to fund his expedition for the search of Zamar. His appelation, however, was most likely due to the rumors circulating around that he killed his partner Rutledge during one of their expeditions to Zamar.
Lucy. Patricia is Matthias' half-sister, Horatia is Immogen's aunt and Monica is the name of one the characters in a TV series called "Friends". Lucy was Immogen's bestfriend whom Immogen dearly loved. In reality, though, she was a mean, self-centered woman who was obsessed with Alastair, which led to her death. Lucy was found dead the day after Immogen was caught with Vanneck in a bedchamber. She had taken a large amount of laundanum and wrote a suicide letter saying she was betrayed by her bestfriend and husband.
Vanneck. He was Lucy's husband and was having an affair with Selena, aka Lady Starlight and 1/2 of the Demon Twins and twin sister of Alastain, during the time that Immogen visited Lucy. Lucy believes that Vanneck killed Lucy but, later on, found out that it was Alastair and Selena who did the deed. Later on, they also killed Vanneck.
passion . "Passion and Zamar" are the reasons he gave. He claimed that it was enough, had to be enough, to bind them together. In truth, though, he was probably already in love with her just as she was with him.
Alastair and Selena. All the others are couples who were married (Lucy and Vanneck), are married (Matthias and Immogent), and is most likely soon to be married (Patricia and Hugo).

seal. It is rumored to be made of pure gold and studded with jewels. While rumors have abounded, it was actually kept by Matthias. It was also the reason why Rutledge wanted to kill him.
IA Stone . She used that pseudonym because in that era, nobody really took the opinions of women very seriously. This nom de plume was how she wrote articles in the Zamarian Review where she took opposite sides from Matthias' articles.
