Tommy and Tuppence

Lift (Elevator) operator. Albert Batt became Tommy and Tuppence's secretary while they were private detectives, in the short story collection. Later, he became their faithful manservant and butler. He has been very useful to Tommy and Tuppence.
Manchester Terrier. Hannibal is very useful in this book, and protects Tuppence from assassins. During the novel, the Beresfords' elderly gardener is killed, with no apparent motive. A rocking horse and two china swans play an important part in the mystery.
Waterside. Tommy and Tuppence eventually learn that the house used to be a hide-out for criminals. Agatha got the title of this novel from "Macbeth". There are several murders in this book with an overdose of morphine.
Nursery rhyme book. The story takes place in Leahampton, a seaside resort in England. Although Tuppence was told to stay at home while Tommy was on a secret mission, Tuppence followed him under a false name.
American. He is looking for his cousin, Jane Finn, who is believed to be drowned on the Lusitania. "The Secret Adversary" takes place after World War I, and concerns secret papers.
Deborah and Derek. Deborah is a code-breaker for British Intelligence during "N or M?", while Derek was in the Royal Air Force. Deborah and her children reappear in "Postern of Fate".
"The Black Arrow". This is the last book that Tommy and Tuppence appear in. They are the only detectives, who appeared regularly in Christie novels, who aged accordingly. Tommy and Tuppence had to solve a sixty year old murder mystery.

A child. Tommy is now over seventy, while Tuppence is sixty-six. After Tommy's Aunt Ada dies, the Beresford inherit a painting. Tuppence takes it onto herself to find out where the house was, which is in the painting. She gets more than she bargained for, with stolen jewels and some residents of Sunny Ridge being poisoned.
Betty. Betty helps in the mystery, although she is only a little girl. "N or M?" was written at the same time as "The Moving Finger". The book takes place during World War II.
South Audley Mansions. "The Secret Adversary" is the first book to feature Tommy and Tuppence, the young private investigators. However Tuppence is Prudence Cowley in this book, she is married to Tommy in the next book. This novel concerns secret papers and espionage.
