Marcus is not his son. Will didn't intend to lie about Marcus when he met Rachel, but when she thought he had a son she became more interested in him. He was afraid to correct her because he knew there was nothing else interesting about himself.

laughing. At one point, Will noted that he was "killing them softly with his song" - funny line! The kids applaud a little when Marcus finishes, but Will keeps singing. They do boo a little, but at the end they burst into laughter. Why did Will keep on playing? My guess is that he wanted to completely take the heat off Marcus by becoming the focus of ridicule. Do you have a different theory? I'd like to hear it.
