Catherine. Catherine Tramell, to be exact. It's even shown onscreen when the woman at Berkeley is checking their files.
Shooter. Catherine calls him this to irritate him at first, and then makes 'Shooter' the title of her book. It's the nickname the Internal Affairs Investigator gave to him.
Literature and Psychology. Nick: 'You enjoy playing games, don't you Ms. Tramell?' Catherine: 'I have a degree in psychology, I'm supposed to.'
Joe Eszterhas. Alan Ball wrote 'American Beauty'. David Mamet wrote 'Heist' and Kenneth Lonergan wrote 'You Can Count On Me'. Joe Eszterhas also wrote 'Showgirls'.

Cocaine. Catherine: 'Do you have any coke? I just love coke with Jack Daniels.' Nick: 'I've got a Pepsi in the fridge.' Catherine: 'Well, that's not really the same thing, now is it?'
Her car goes into a ravine.. Nick thinks he's playing chicken with Catherine, but it's actually Roxy that drives the car over the edge of a construction site.

He was stabbed numerous times with an icepick.. Johnny Boz was a retired rock star turned bar owner. He was last seen with Catherine Tramell, a beautiful and wealthy author who had previously published a novel about a rock star murdered in the same manner. She was the original prime suspect.
No. Catherine stated that she and Johnny just had sexual relations. She met Boz at his club the night of the murder. She claimed they had a drink and left together, but Catherine wanted to go home so they parted ways.

"What are you going to do, charge me with smoking?". This was said when Catherine was being interrogated. She lit up a cigarette and smoked it all the way through while the detectives questioned her. The line was later used by Nick when he was questioned for Nilsen's murder.
He shot a few people while working undercover.. Nick Curran was a detective assigned to the Boz murder case. He had an affair with Catherine although he got a little edgy that she knew so much about him, despite his claim that he was unpredictable.
Nilsen. Nilsen was a fellow detective who sold Nick's files to Catherine. Nick attacked Nilsen for this and Nilsen was later found murdered in his car. Nick was a suspect for a while and was later put on psychiatric leave for his action.

The Jeffersons. Beth was a psychiatrist and Nick's former girlfriend. She came to see if he was alright after the attack on Nilsen, but Nick angrily told her to leave. This cleared him of Nilsen's murder. "The Jeffersons" episode featured that famous line from Florence, the maid, "George Jefferson is unfair, he's short with no hair".
"Nah, you'll just fall in love with me.". Nick was still trying to prove Catherine was guilty of the murder of Johnny Boz. After her statement, he said "I'm in love with you already, but I'll nail you anyway.".
Roxy hit him with her car.. Roxy was Catherine's girlfriend who was jealous of Nick. After hitting him, she fled and led Nick on a high-speed chase which resulted in her falling into a ravine, causing her death. Gus was Nick's friend and fellow detective who was murdered near the end of the movie.

He got her name wrong.. Nick mistook the name as Oberman instead of Hoberman. Lisa Hoberman turned out to be Beth. She happened to know Catherine at Berkeley. Beth got married afterwards and changed her name.
Beth. Nick had good reason to suspect Beth. Nilsen had files on her and was murdered afterwards. Nick found out her husband was murdered and there were no suspects. When Gus was killed, she was the first person he saw. He also found a blonde wig and icepick in her possession after he shot her for not keeping her hands erect after killing Gus.
