 Cannonball Run
5. Seymour has five girls riding with, or seen with him from the begining of the race to the end. Again this is a parody of the James Bond movies, where Bond has a new woman in each movie, and the last one is never seen or heard of again.
During the movie, Seymour was meant to be seen with a different women each time. Because of the way the movie was edited, it did not quite work out that way in the end. In some scenes he is with the same girl as he was in the scene before.
Terry, Mel and the ape.. Terry & Mel are the winners of the second Cannonball race. Before the race, they approach their uncle Cal for a car to use in the race. Uncle Cal agrees to give them a free car, as long as they take his pet ape with them.
The ape takes control of the car during the last quarter of the race. Even though the ape is driving when they win, it is still the original drivers, and human competitors, Mel and Terry, who win the second Cannonball Run race.
In the final scene of the movie, the Sheik (Jamie Farr) is confronted by his father the King (Ricardo Montalban), who is quite angered by the fact his son has again failed to win the Cannonball. The Sheik assures the King that they will not lose the next race, because he has hired the winner of the last race to drive for him. The Sheik walks with the King over to his Rolls Royce, holds the door and says he would like to introduce the King to his new driver. The Sheik opens the door and there is the ape, leaning out of the driver's seat, planting a big kiss on the King's face.

2 million dollars. After the big brawl at the ranch, the Sheik raises the prize money from 1 million to 2 million dollars, and the race resumes with fiercer competition.

Captain USA. Captain Chaos bumbles the victory for his team by rescuing a woman's drowning dog. J.J. is angry about the loss and tells Victor he is tired of the Captain Chaos nonsense. J.J. rips off Victor's mask and throws it to the ground, and tells Victor there is to be no more Captain Chaos. Victor responds by ducking down, popping back up in a new blue cape and mask and saying "I don't care, 'cause I always wanted to be Captain USA, Dun, Dun, Dun". Captain Chaos returns in the sequel and Captain USA is never heard of again.
Seymour Goldfarb. Roger Moore plays the character of Seymour Goldfarb. Goldfarb is a man who resembles Roger Moore enough to impersonate him. He enjoys the attention and the women. He drives an Aston Martin in the race, which is equipped with all the Bond style gadgets.
Hal Needham actually wrote the part into the movie as a parody of James Bond. To his surprise, Roger Moore actually was eager to do it! For copyright reasons, they could not use the name 'James Bond', nor could they have Roger Moore thinking he was really James Bond. Instead Roger Moore plays a character named Seymour, who happens to look enough like Roger Moore that he impersonates him. He's actually playing a man, who is pretending to be Roger Moore, who pretends to be James Bond! After the film was released, the makers of James Bond made Moore - and all Bond actors since - sign contracts saying that they would not be involved in mocking the Bond character. The theme music played for Moore's character in this movie is very similar to the 007 theme song!
Homer Lyle. Actor Jim Nabors is famous for his character, Gomer Pyle, from the TV show of the same name. He plays a similar character in this movie. Probably due to copyright, the character has been changed, but not enough to disguise the similarity. Nabors plays Homer Lyle in this movie, a parody of the name of Gomer Pyle.
In the movie, Lyle is returning home from being stationed in the military, to be with his family. His uncle, a police officer, is on the side of the road, having just pulled over the Nuclear Limousine J.J. & the gang are driving. Lyle stops off to say hello to his uncle, and he sees J.J. is dressed as a general. To stay in character, J.J. orders Lyle to drive the limo for him.
Ferrari & Corvette. Fenderbaum & Blake drive the red Ferrari in the first Cannonball. They race across the country dressed as priests. Due to the fact that they do not win the last race in the Ferrari, they ditch that car and travel in the red Corvette for the second race from "sea to shining sea".
Marcie & Jill. Only metres away from the finish line, an accident occurs, and none of the vehicles can get through. So the race becomes a foot race to the finish. J.J. leaps onto a pack of runners, causing them to fall over, and only Captain Chaos (Dom Deluise), and the girl from the Lamborghini are left standing, or should I say running. Captain Chaos is about to punch the ticket to win, when a woman cries for help for someone to save her drowning baby. Chaos is off to the rescue, abandoning the victory, and allowing the Lamborghini girls to win.
Pamela Glover. You hear Mr. Foyt read her name off a sheet he has during the conference. Here J.J. first meets Pamela and attempts to get to know her better. Pamela Glover is a humanitarian who is interested in the preservation of trees. She is the type of women who never expects to end up in a race, from one side of the country to the other. She accidentally finds her self involved with Victor & J.J., and becomes not only the love interest of J.J., but also the fake patient they use in the ambulance vehicle that they are racing in.
J.J. McClure. Burt plays J.J. McClure, a drifter who just goes from place to place looking for a good time and easy money. Since he was a child he swore he would never be like his father, who worked all his life in a dead-end job and died two days from retirement.
The director of "Cannonball", Hal Needham, worked with Burt on two of the "Smokey & the Bandit" films before making this movie with him, just after the release of "Smokey & the Bandit 2". The "Cannonball Run" movie was originally going to be an action movie starring Steve McQueen. He died before the film was made. So the leading role went to Burt Reynolds who had worked with Hal many times before. The script was re-done from an action movie to a comedy. Hal & Reynolds later worked with each other again on a film called "Strokers Ace", but it never had as much success as the "Smokey & the Bandit" and the "Cannonball Run" movies.
Captain Chaos. Captain Chaos is actually, Victor Prinzi, J.J. McClure's best friend. Victor created him when he was child to deal with bullies. When in character, Chaos is invincible, and can out drive everybody.
I have told you who finishes second, so I guess you are probably wondering who wins. Well, it all comes down to Captain Chaos, played by Dom DeLuise, and Marcie Thatcher, played by Adrienne Barbeau. Off to the side, a lady is screaming about her lost baby who fell into the water. Captain Chaos is in the lead at the time, and being the hero that he is, he forgets about winning the race and saves the woman's dog from drowning. Barbeau is the driver of the black Lamborghini and the winner of "The Cannonball Run".

Ambulance. While J.J. and Victor do drive an ambulance in the race, it isn't one of their first ideas. They get the idea while zipping through traffic in an ambulance after they are involved in a boating accident.
Molly Picon. Molly Picon does not have much screen time in "The Cannonball Run". In one memorable scene, she confronts her son about a gun that the maid finds in his room. Seymour, who thinks he is a secret agent named Roger Moore, threatens to kill his mother because she "knows too much." The gun, however, is just a gag gun that shoots out a flag that reads "bang." Poor Mrs. Goldfarb honestly believes he is capable of killing her.
Molly had a career that spanned several decades. After starting in silent movies, she graduated to Broadway and was in "Fiddler on the Roof". She died in 1992 at the age of 93.
Yes. Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr play two guys dressed up as priests, driving the Ferrari. In one of my favorite scenes, the duo is pulled over by a cop in Missouri. Davis asks Martin why the cop called him small, and Martin replied "Because you're small, small, s...m...all."

Coughs on it. Having finally found a doctor to ride in the ambulance, Victor rushes J.J. out to meet him. Immediately after seeing J.J., the doc stands up and introduces himself. He then coughs into his hand, as a smoker would do, and J.J. reluctantly shakes it. Jack Elam brilliantly plays the uncouth and unkempt doctor Nikolas Van Helsing.

Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan plays a character named "Jackie Chan". Never one to shy away from a fight, Chan has acted in such fighting movies as "The Tuxedo" and "Rumble in the Bronx".
Trees. "Beauty", as she is called by Burt Reynolds, rambles on about trees quite a few times, and each time there is music to accompany it. "Beauty" has the real name of Pamela Glover and becomes J.J. McClure's love interest.
Rolls Royce. Sheik Abdul Ben Falafel's vehicle of choice is a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. You can clearly see that it is a Rolls Royce, in a few scenes, by the hood ornament.
Terry Bradshaw. Bradshaw has appeared in three movies with Burt Reynolds, with "Hooper" and "Smokey and the Bandit 2" being the others. Terry is partnered up with Mel Tillis, as they compete in this cross country race.

GMC truck. Rick Aviles and Alfie Wise who play "Mad Dog" and "Batman", respectively, drive the GMC truck, as you can see by the big white lettering on the windshield. The duo, being chased by a motorcycle cop, concoct a scam where they tell the policeman they have no brakes. To their surprise, they really have no brakes. Up ahead is a train crossing, and without any brakes, they jump right over it.
