Devil Wears Prada, The
Miranda Priestly. The Editor-in-Chief of the fashion magazine, Runway, is Miranda Priestly. Miranda is Andrea Sach's new boss, and the boss from hell. She's also the mother of twins and goes through a divorce in the movie.
Meryl Streep. In the movie, Streep plays the devil-boss, Miranda Priestly and makes her new assistant's job a royal pain and really difficult.
Meryl Streep has been nominated thirteen times for an Academy Award through out her career. She has won it twice and is considered to be one of the greatest actresses of modern time.
Nigel. Nigel works in co-ordinating fashion for Runway. After just about having a melt-down from being criticized by her boss, Andrea, asks Nigel for his help to make her more fashionable. This happens about midway through the movie after Andrea has worked for Runway for quite a while.
Caroline and Cassidy. Caroline and Cassidy are Miranda Priestly's twin girls. They trick Andrea into going upstairs to give Miranda "The Book" once Andrea finally starts to be trusted by Miranda. Going upstairs into Miranda's private area of the house doesn't really help matters.
Journalist. She can't be a journalist immediately, so she has to take the job as Miranda Priestly's number two assistant at Runway. She has the choice of working in mechanics or in fashion. She chooses fashion, obviously, and it changes her life throughout the movie. It changes the way she acts and dresses, and pretty much everything about her.
Elias - Clarke. Elias - Clarke own all the businesses in the building where Runway is located. Runway is the magazine that is run by Miranda Priestly, who selects Andrea Sachs to be her new number two assistant.
Lauren Weisberger. The movie is based on the book, "The Devil Wears Prada" which was published in 2003. Lauren Weisberger has written many other books and had them on the New York Times Best Seller List.
Marc Jacobs. Andrea gives Lilly a blue Marc Jacobs at the restaurant where she hangs out with her friends. Miranda Priestly, Andrea Sachs's new boss, gets many cool designer gifts from people, and occasionally gives them to her employees when she doesn't want them for herself. The Marc Jacobs bag is given to Andrea, and she decides to give it to Lilly during the part of the movie where she is not paying as much attention to her friends. After she gives her the gift, and her other friends their gifts, she goes back to work.
Runway. Andrea gets a job as Miranda Priestly's (her tyrant of a boss) junior assistant. Her senior assistant's name is Emily. Andrea is working there for a year so that she can have all of the connections she needs to be a journalist for the New Yorker.
That's all.. Miranda says this for almost every request that she has. Miranda Priestly is played by Meryl Streep. Miranda is Andrea's tyrranical boss. In the movie, she is sometimes called "the Dragon Lady".
A big notebook that has everything in it for the next issue. Andrea is supposed to deliver the book to Miranda's town house along with her dry cleaning. The dry cleaning goes in the closet across from the staircase and "The Book" goes on the table next to the closet.
Starbucks. Andrea gets Miranda her coffee everyday. She also gets coffee for other people. Miranda always likes her coffee piping hot.
Harry Potter. When Andrea comes back to Miranda with only one copy of the manuscript, Miranda is a little disappointed. Then Andrea tells her that she made up covers for the manuscripts so that they wouldn't look like manuscripts. The manuscripts are already with the girls.
Paris. Emily is supposed to go to Paris but she breaks her leg when she is crossing a busy street, so Andrea has to take her place. Emily winds up in the hospital. In the book, Emily gets mono and is too sick to go.
Nate. Late in the movie, Nate and Adrea break up. Well, she doesn't really break up with him, they just go their separate ways for a while. Alex is her boyfriend's name in the book, Christian is someone whom she meets, and Irv is someone whom Miranda has lunch with.
Anne Hathaway. Anne Hathaway plays Miranda's junior assistant, Andrea. Andrea really wants to be a journalist. The reason she is working at Runway is that Miranda might possibly open up some connections for the job she really wants. Hathaway also plays in "The Princess Diaries 1 and 2", "Ella Enchanted", and "Hoodwinked".
Jacqueline Follet. Andrea finds this news out from Christian. She tries to tell Miranda but she pushes Andrea away. Later she tells Andrea that she already knew she was going to have Jacqueline as editor in chief. Miranda arranges for Jacqueline to become partners with the designer so that she can keep her own job. Miranda tells her boss (the owner) that she has a list of designers who will follow her to any magazine she goes to and he can't refuse to keep her. Miranda schemes to keep her job and that is why Andy quit "Runway".
After Andrea quits the Runway job, who does she give all of her designer clothes to? | The Devil Wears Prada
|
Emily. She calls Emily and tells her that she still has the Runway clothes that Nigel gave her, and she needs to have someone take them off her hands. Emily accepts the offer. Thanks for playing my quiz. I hope you had fun.
Brushing her teeth. The movie starts out with fog covering the whole screen. Then we see that the fog is on a mirror as Andy wipes it off so she can see herself brushing her teeth as she comes out of the shower.
"Human Resources has an odd sense of humor.". Emily says this because "Runway" is a fashion magazine, and Andy looks anything but fashionable (plaid clothes, messy hair, etc.). She is amazed that Andy got the job looking like she does and she gives Andy the cold shoulder for most of the movie.
Foul. When Andy first goes in to meet Miranda, she has a bag containing all her previous articles. However, Emily takes it from her, calling it foul, as the bag is a kind-of vomit-colored brown and it has leather ropes to keep it together.
Elias-Clarke. You would probably have no idea what the company is called, unless you actually paid attention to what Andy was droning about when she was talking to Emily about how she got there. This is where the name is mentioned.
At one point in the film, Nate, Andy, Doug, and Lily are in a restaurant when Miranda calls Andy. Lily takes the phone and it is passed around the table until Andy grabs it from one of her three friends. Which one finally talks to Miranda? | "The Devil Wears Prada": Part One
|
Andy. While the phone is ringing, it is passed around throughout the entire table. Everyone is laughing except Andy, who finally grabs the phone from Nate. Also, Emily is not in that scene.
Starbucks. Every time Miranda's Starbucks is not on her table when she gets to her office, she suggests that either Starbucks is too slow ("Is it impossible to get coffee around here?") or whoever was responsible for the coffee died.
Serena. Serena is only shown in two scenes. The first one is when she arrives to pick up Emily for lunch. The second time is when Andy gets her little makeover, and Serena tells her she looks good.
A hurricane. There is one part in this scene I thought was very funny. Andy can't get another flight out for Miranda. When she tells Miranda no one is flying out because of the hurricane, Miranda says it is merely drizzling while thunder is heard, there is pouring rain, and paper, cans, etc., are being blown against Miranda's window.
Under the covers at night. After Andy is yelled at by Miranda because she couldn't get out of Miami in time, she goes to Nigel and complains about how she doesn't get acknowledged for the good things she does. Nigel then tells her that she shouldn't complain to a guy who hated soccer even though he was forced to do it, had 5 older brothers, and only read "Runway" under the covers at night. "Wake up, sister" he says.
A dog. On one of her errands, Miranda tells Andy to pick up Patrice. Andy asks who that is, then the next scene cuts to Andy trying to handle a very big dog.
Listens to the twins. Emily tells Andy to put the dry cleaning in the closet and the book on the table with the flowers. Emily isn't that specific, as there are about five tables with flowers, and three closets. While trying to figure out where to put everything, Andy meets Miranda's twins, who tell her to bring the book upstairs, when she was specifically told not to. Andy listens to the twins and brings the book upstairs, where she runs into a fight between Miranda and her husband.
After the incident with the book, Miranda decides to challenge Andy by asking her to bring the twins the unpublished manuscript of a certain book. What book is that? | "The Devil Wears Prada": Part Two
|
Harry Potter. Andy is unable to get the manuscript, so she decides to give up and quit, but then, Christian Thompson finds the manuscript for her, so Andy gets to keep her job. Also--if you look closely at the Harry Potter book while the twins are on the train, it says "Book 7". In the book "The Devil Wears Prada", Miranda tells Andy to find book 4.
She catches Andy kissing Christian.. Andy and Christian see each other again at Lily's art show. They talk, but after a while, Christian kisses Andy. Lily sees this happening, and gets mad at Andy. After that, she is never seen again through the entire film.
