      Bruce Brown . Bruce Brown directed six other surf films before "The Endless Summer". He also writes, edits and photographs most of his films. He is also an avid surfer himself.

    Which continent was the first stop for the surfers on their trip?The Endless Summer

      Africa. The two surfers visited both Northern and Southern Africa. They found a perfect wave at a place called Cape St. Francis, on the west coast of Africa. They also were able to see some interesting animals and introduce surfing to people that had never seen it before.

    What animals did they NOT see in Africa?The Endless Summer

      Rhinos. At least, they didn't show any rhinos in the film. Robert and Mike tried to pet zebras, but they ran away.

      "You should have been here yesterday.". According to Bruce's narration, all surfers say this, that the surf was better yesterday. Robert and Mike finally counter with stories of the great surf in Hawaii, specifically Waiamea Bay.

      no. Everywhere they went, Robert and Mike were told there was no place to surf in Tahiti. Yet they found three great places, "El Stumpo", "Ins and Outs" and "The Other Spot".

      The Sandals. The Sandals were originally known as the Twangs, a group formed by Walter Georgis and his brother Gaston. They were joined by John Blakeley, John Gibson and Danny Brawner and became The Sandells. The changed their name to The Sandals to better fit the mood of "The Endless Summer". They were the first surf-rock group to score a surf film.

      lions. Pat and Wingnut drive out among lions and are attacked when the buggy "breaks down". Actually, Bruce sent them out among the lions at a preserve, thinking it would be cool for the film. They deliberately stopped, but the lions freaked them out, so they got out as soon as they could.

      Indonesia. Also joining them was Laird Hamilton, a Big Wave Surfer and pioneer of tow-in surfing. Tow-in surfing is where a jet-ski is used to pull the rider into really big waves (60 footers) that are impossible to paddle surf. The jet-ski gives the surfer the speed necessary to catch big, fast waves. On Fiji, Pat and Wingnut surfed with Kelly Slater, Jeff Booth and Tom Carroll. In Costa Rica, of course, they were with Robert August and they did not go to Hawaii.

      30. At the beginning, Pat and Wingnut are watching the 30th Anniversary showing of "The Endless Summer". They say it is their hundredth time seeing the movie and they decide that they could do that too. They use money Pat won in some surf contests and plan to follow the summer of surf until they run out of funds.
