    Half-Blood Prince

Harry apparated for the first time in his life. Dumbledore brought him to a Muggle village. What was Dumbledore's intention of bringing him to meet Horace Slughorn?Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

To convince Horace to return to Hogwarts and teach there. Harry and Dumbledore entered Horace's home and found that the house was in a total mess. Horace disguised himself as an armchair. Eventually, the dragon blood gave it away and Dumbledore knew that the armchair was indeed, none other than Horace himself. Horace claimed that he needed to do so to protect himself from the Death Eaters who were now lurking around everywhere, causing troubles and injuring people. Dumbledore introduced Harry to Horace and clarified his intention of visiting him - he wanted him to come out of his retirement and go back to teach at Hogwarts. At first, Horace turned down the offer, however, after his conversation with Harry, he had a second thought and eventually agreed to do so.

Professor Horace Slughorn was the new Potions Master at Hogwarts. In one of his classes, he offered the class a phial of Felix Felicis to the student who could brew the perfect potion. In the end, Harry got the phial. What kind of potion was Felix Felicis?Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

A good luck potion. Professor Severus Snape, who previously taught Potions, was the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Professor Horace Slughorn replaced Snape as the new Potions Master. Both Harry and Ron were informed by Professor McGonagall that they could take N.E.W.T. Potions with Slughorn. One day, Harry and Ron attended Slughorn's Potions class. Their task was to brew a perfect potion and the instruction could be found in their textbooks. Realizing that Harry and Ron had not bought their textbooks, Professor Slughorn said they could use the books from the bookshelves temporarily. Harry got a very old potion book. He found that some of the instructions in the book had been modified by the book owner. Harry flipped through the book to find a writing stating that the book belonged to the Half-Blood Prince. Harry had no idea who this Half-Blood Prince was. While everyone was having trouble and struggling to brew the perfect potion, Harry brewed his potion by simply following the modified instructions in his book. In the end, he won the phial of Felix Felicis potion. According to Professor Slughorn, Felix Felicis was a good luck potion – whoever drank that potion would be very lucky for at least two hours.

Throughout the movie, Draco Malfoy was seen sneaking into the Room of Requirement to perform some experiments on a special item. First, he experimented with an apple, and then a bird for the second time. What was the item called that he placed these things in?Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

The Vanishing Cabinet. Before returning to Hogwarts, Harry, Ron and Hermione followed Draco to Borgin and Burkes, a shop in Knockturn Alley that sold very dark magic items. Draco was seen together with some Death Eaters so Harry was quite sure that Draco was one of them, too. Draco put an apple in the Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Requirement. He closed it and murmured some charm. He opened the cabinet later to find a half-eaten apple. On his second trial, he put a bird in the cabinet. He performed the same spell but to his disappointment, he found a dead bird when he opened the cabinet. One day, Harry and Ginny went to the Room of Requirement to hide the potion book that belonged to the Half-Blood Prince. Ginny wanted Harry to do so because she believed the book had brought Harry more trouble than good. During his battle with Dumbledore, Draco said there was another twin Vanishing Cabinet in Borgin and Burkes. He used the Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Requirement to travel outside of Hogwarts, since Hogwarts was a protected ground and hence he could not apparate within the castle.

Who said the following line in this movie? "Why is it, that whenever anything happens, it's always you three?", in which Ron replied, "Believe me, Professor, I have been asking myself that same question for the past six year."Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Professor McGonagall. On their way back from Hogsmeade to Hogwarts, Harry, Ron and Hermione witnessed a bizarre and terrifying incident. Their friend, Katie Bell was seen lifted from the ground and then swung violently from side to side. She was then dropped to the ground and collapsed. Bell’s friend, who was also at the scene yelled and said she had told Bell not to touch the necklace. Hagrid later sent Bell to the hospital wing. After asking several questions to Bell's friend, Professor McGonagall said she was free to go. Then McGonagall asked the trio cynically, "Why is it always you three when something happens?" Upon examination, Professor Snape said Bell was very lucky because the necklace was an object of very dark magic and it could have killed Bell. Later, it was revealed that the necklace was supposed to be sent to Dumbledore. It was a plotted murder to take the old man's life.

Lavender Brown was the obnoxious girl who admired Ron. One night, Ron told Harry that he was in love with a girl. Harry knew for sure he was talking about Lavender. Apparently, a girl sent Harry a box of chocolates with love potion in them and Ron ate the chocolate. Who was the girl?Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Romilda Vane. Previously, Hermione told Harry that Romilda Vane had a crush on Harry when they were in the library. Ron ate the chocolate that Romilda sent to Harry. Little did he realize that the chocolate contained a very strong love potion. As a result, he felt deeply in love with Romilda. Harry knew something was wrong so he sought help from Professor Slughorn. Slughorn cured Ron and he offered him a glass of drink to refresh him. Ron collapsed immediately after drinking the glass of drink. Slughorn watched helplessly in terror while Harry acted wisely by putting a bezoar (a stone from a goat's stomach) in Ron's mouth to save him. It was later revealed that the drink was supposed to be sent to Dumbledore but Slughorn intercepted the gift.

Harry found a spell in the Half-Blood Prince's potion book. He used the spell against Draco during their battle in the washroom. Much to his surprise, the consequence of the spell was deadly as Draco was injured badly. What was the spell?Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Sectumsempra. Harry found the Sectumsempra spell in the potion book. He told Hermione about this before and had kept the spell to himself since. One day, Harry was talking about the unfortunate incident that happened to Katie Bell in the Great Hall when he noticed that Draco left the hall in a hurry. Harry followed Draco to a washroom where they started a battle. They cast spells on each other and Harry used the Sectumsempra spell, which left Draco seriously injured. Professor Snape arrived at the scene later and healed Draco. Professor Snape eventually told Harry that he was the Half-Blood Prince during his battle with Harry when Harry used the same spell on him.

Harry’s mother, Lily, once gifted Professor Slughorn a very special bowl. She put the bowl on Slughorn’s desk. Slughorn noticed there was some water in the bowl and also a flower petal. He looked more closely and found that when the lily sank to the bottom of the bowl, it turned into a goldfish. What did Slughorn name the goldfish?Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Francis. Professor Slughorn informed Harry that his mother, Lily Evans was a very gifted student, just like Harry himself. Slughorn was in Hagrid's hut, consoling him over the death of Aragog (the giant spider). Aragog was one of Hagrid's favorite pets. Slughorn said he once had a pet as well and he named it Francis. He went on and described the process of the lily plant turning into a goldfish a beautiful magic. One day, Slughorn found that Francis just disappeared from the bowl. It was also the day where Lily was killed by Voldemort.

Dumbledore brought Harry to a seemingly forbidden cave to find one of Voldemort's Horcruxes. Dumbledore made an ultimate sacrifice by drinking the potion in order to get the Horcrux. After Dumbledore's memorial, Harry was saddened by the fact that the Horcrux was a fake. What was the Horcrux?Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

A locket. A Horcrux was an object that someone could hide his or her soul in. A person would not die as long as all of the Horcruxes were not destroyed. The much-feared Voldemort was known as Tom Riddle when he was still a student at Hogwarts. He came across the term in the library and he asked Professor Slughorn about this. Slughorn said in order to create a Horcrux, one needed to kill another person. Voldemort created a total of seven Horcruxes. Harry had destroyed one of the Horcruxes, namely the diary in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret". Also, Dumbledore destroyed another one – the ring. Dumbledore believed he had found the location of the third Horcrux. He asked Harry to join him in his quest to get the third Horcrux. Harry found that the locket that they got from the cave was a fake. Harry found a note inside the locket, written by someone by the initial of R. A. B. This person addressed the note to the Dark Lord. The content of the note was as follows: "To the Dark Lord, I know I will be dead long before you read this, but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match, you will be mortal once more."

After returning from the cave, Dumbledore was very weak and fragile, as a result from drinking the potion. Back at Hogwarts, Draco came and looked for Dumbledore. Draco said he had no choice but to kill Dumbledore because if he failed to do so, the Dark Lord would kill him instead. Who eventually killed Dumbledore with the "Avada Kedavra" spell?Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Severus Snape. Earlier in the movie, Draco's mother, Narcissa and Bellatrix were meeting Snape at his house. There, Snape made the Unbreakable Vow. He vowed to protect and help Draco in his task. Draco was pointing his wand at Dumbledore and he hesitated. Dumbledore said Draco was not a killer. Just then, Professor Snape arrived. Bellatrix and some Death Eaters were also there. Snape eventually cast the deadly "Avada Kedavra" spell on Dumbledore. Harry witnessed the while incident in disbelief as Dumbledore collapsed and died on the spot.

Where does Harry first see Dumbledore in "The Half Blood Prince"?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part I

in a subway station. We first see Harry in a cafe in a subway (or underground) station. He is reading a paper and flirting with the waitress. Something causes him to look up and, after a subway train passes, he sees Dumbledore standing on the other side of the tracks. Harry uses the stairs to reach Dumbledore, who takes Harry with him, to help him with an important chore. This is very different from the book where Dumbledore calls at the Dursleys' house to collect Harry. The fact that Harry is wandering around alone at night, when witches and wizards are disappearing at an alarming rate, is something that would not have been allowed in the book. However in the movie, the only concession made to this risk is when Dumbledore tells Harry that he's been careless over the summer. Michael Gambon plays Dumbledore and Daniel Radcliffe plays Harry Potter.

Dumbledore takes Harry with him, to help him persuade Slughorn to return to Hogwarts, but when they get there, the house looks like it has been attacked. How does Dumbledore know that Slughorn staged this?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part I

The blood dripping from the ceiling is dragon's blood.. When they first approach the house and he sees the condition that it's in, Dumbledore tells Harry to get his wand out. Once inside, they find that the extent of the wreckage is extensive and there is a large patch of blood dripping down from the ceiling. A drop falls on Harry's face and Dumbledore tastes it. He then points his wand at the chair which turns out to be a disguised Slughorn. Slughorn explains that he has said no to the Death Eaters a few times and is worried about repercussions. He then asks Dumbledore what gave him away and Dumbledore says "Dragon's blood." Slughorn is played by Jim Broadbent.

When Bellatrix and Narcissa Malfoy visit Snape, before the start of school term, who do they find living with him?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part I

Wormtail. When the two women first knock on the door, it is Wormtail who answers it. Snape then dismisses him before engaging in a conversation with the women, using his wand to cause the door to slam in Wormtail's face. As this is the only time he is seen in the entire movie, one wonders why they bothered including him. Wormtail's real name is Peter Pettigrew, and he is the Death Eater who revealed the Potter's location to Voldemort, on the night that James and Lily were killed. He faked his own death (causing Sirius to be imprisoned for it) and spent years hiding out as the Weasley's pet rat. Lucius Malfoy, we learn from the headlines in the paper that Harry was reading, is a prisoner in Azkaban. Wormtail is played by Timothy Spall.

What does Bellatrix insist that Snape make with Narcissa Malfoy?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part I

the Unbreakable Vow. Narcissa is distraught about the task that Voldemort has set for her son, Draco, and wants Snape to promise to help him. Her sister, Bellatrix, does not trust Snape and says that without the Unbreakable Vow, his promises are meaningless. Snape surprises her by telling her to take out her wand and she officiates over the Unbreakable Vow between Snape and Narcissus. He promises to protect and help Draco to the best of his abilities, and to finish Draco's task if he Draco unable to do so. Snape is played by Alan Rickman, Bellatrix by Helena Bonham Carter and Narcissa by Helen McCrory.

Who finds Harry on the Hogwart's Express, after Draco has petrified him, attacked him and left him covered by the invisibility cloak?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part I

Luna Lovegood. Harry is suspicious of Malfoy's actions, with good reason. So he hides himself under his invisibility cloak, on the shelf above where Draco is sitting on the train, to listen to what he says. Malfoy sees a bag move and realizes that something is up. After everyone leaves the car, he fires a spell at the rack, petrifying Harry, who falls to the floor. After kicking Harry in the face (for his father) Draco leaves him, petrified and invisible, and heads out the door. Luna comes through wearing her special glasses to help her see Wrackspurts, which she had discussed in an earlier scene. She sees a bunch flying around Harry's concealed head. Her spell releases Harry and they walk to Hogwarts together. Always seen as being a bit ditzy, this scene leaves us wondering if Luna isn't right about other things that she has been laughed at for believing. Draco is played by Tom Felton and Luna is played by Evanna Lynch.

Who is the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part I

Severus Snape. There has been a different DADA teacher every year that our friends have been at Hogwarts, and through it all, it has been made clear that that was the assignment that Snape really wanted, instead of Potions. This year, with Dumbledore coaxing his old friend Horace Slughorn back into his old position of Potions Master, Snape is finally given a shot at teaching what he really wants to teach. However we do not see a scene with Snape actually teaching Harry and his friends.

Without a Potions textbook between them, Harry and Ron are told to get one from the spares in the cupboard. They struggle over the two that are in there. Ron wins the newer-looking one, leaving Harry with an old, tatty one. Who was Harry's book's previous owner?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part I

Half-Blood Prince. As Harry leafs through the book he finds an inscription that says that the book is the property of 'the Half-Blood Prince'. There is much speculation as to who this could be, with Hermione searching through the library, with no success. At the very end of the movie we learn that Snape is the Half-Blood Prince. In the book we find that, with only one magical parent, Snape is a half-blood, and his mother's surname was Prince.

In Potions' first class, a vial of Felix Felicis is offered as prize to whomever can make the best Draught of Living Death. Harry finds hand written instructions in his textbook that differ from the regular directions. What happens when Harry follow these new directions?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part I

He brews a perfect draught and wins the Felix Felicis.. The differences between the instructions in the book and the Prince's suggestions are subtle, but they make a huge difference. Instead of cutting a very tough pod to obtain its juices, as instructed, Harry flattens it with the side of the blade. Instead of adding 12 of a certain kind of seed, he adds 13 as the Prince suggests. Harry's success with the Draught of Living Death causes him to become fascinated with the book and he spends hours pouring over it. He also becomes Slughorn's star Potion's student, much to Hermione's disgust (because it is not earned honestly) and jealousy.

Aside from these memories shared in the Pensieve, what is the first time we see Voldemort in "The Half-Blood Prince"?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part I

He is not seen in this film.. The adult Lord Voldemort does not make an appearance in this film, although his presence is very much felt through the actions of his Death Eaters. The kidnapping of Ollivander is done by Death Eaters and the significance of this is not discussed until "The Deathly Hallows". The bridge destroyed in the film is the London Millennium Bridge.

While Harry is learning about Dumbledore's quest for horcruxes, Draco is trying to mend the Vanishing Cabinet. What is the first thing he sends through it?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part II

an apple. Draco successfully sends a green, Granny Smith apple through the Vanishing Cabinet, to its twin, sitting in Borgin and Burkes. When he casts the incantation to bring the apple back, that also works, but the apple is missing a big chunk, indicating that the cabinets are not working properly. The white bird is the object we next see being sent back and forth, but it is dead when it returns. The black bird is the first object to be sent and return whole and alive. Draco is played by Tom Felton.

In the Pensieve, Dumbledore shows Harry a memory that Professor Slughorn has of a conversation with a young Tom Riddle. What is wrong with the memory?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part II

It has been altered.. The memory is of a conversation that Slughorn and Riddle had about horcruxes. In the altered memory, Riddle asked Slughorn about horcruxes but he refused to discuss them, because they were such dark magic. In the real memory, which Dumbledore desperately needs, Slughorn does answer Riddle's questions. His shame at having done this with the young student is what caused Slughorn to alter his memory before giving it to Dumbledore. Dumbledore needs Harry to get close to Slughorn, to get the accurate memory. Dumbledore is played by Michael Gambon, Harry by Daniel Radcliffe and Slughorn by Jim Broadbent.

What is the name of the pub where the three friends go for a Butterbeer, and are joined by Slughorn?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part II

The Three Broomsticks. Dumbledore has asked Harry to allow Slughorn to 'collect' him, so when Harry sees Slughorn at the pub, he encourages him to join them for a drink. Slughorn has obviously already had a few and makes some comment about how he and The Three Broomsticks go back a long way. Then he makes a lame joke about how he knew it when it was The One Broomstick.

Slughorn 'collects' people and lives vicariously off of their successes. He has a shelf of pictures of his past favourite students, most of whom do him all kinds of favours. Whose picture is on the shelf?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part II

Lily Potter. Slughorn speaks a few times about Harry's mother, fondly remembering what a bright and kind witch she had been. She is seen in a group shot, front and foremost on Slughorn's shelf (where anyone who's anyone aspires to be seen). Later in the movie, Slughorn tells a poignant story of a fish Lily once gave him, which first appeared as a petal from a flower before turning into a fish. The fish disappeared the day that Lily was killed. Geraldine Somerville played Lily Potter.

Having secured the position of Keeper on the Quidditch team, Ron is very nervous on the day of the first game and announces his intentions of quitting. Harry appears to slip something into his juice and Hermione, believing it to be the Felix Felicis, tells Ron not to drink it. Does Harry put the potion in Ron's drink?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part II

No. Ron drinks the juice, believing it to contain the potion, and performs brilliantly at the game, making some incredible saves which help Gryffindor win the game. Hermione mildly chastises Harry, saying that it is the same as cheating, and Harry shows her the full vial. Hermione laughs when she realizes how Harry has psyched Ron out. Hermione and Ron are played by Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

After the game is won, the celebrations in the Gryffindor common room are boisterous, to say the least. In the midst of all this Lavender Brown does something quite remarkable. What does she do?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part II

She kisses Ron.. Lavender has been trying to flirt with Ron all year, but he seems oblivious to her hints. So she tries the more direct approach of throwing herself into his arms and kissing him, in full view of everyone in the common room. This causes Hermione to leave. Later Harry finds Hermione, sitting and crying, with a bunch of birds flying around her head. Lavender and Ron, looking for a private place to do some snogging, happen upon them. Ron says something unwise and Hermione has the birds attack him! Jessie Cave plays Lavender.

Who does Harry discover that he has feelings for?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part II

Ginny Weasley. From the first time Harry sees Ginny (in this film) there is a little spark, that grows with intensity as the movie progresses. He finds himself surprised at his jealousy when he sees Ginny kissing Dean and is nervous when Ron gets protective over the same thing. When Ron asks what Harry thinks that Dean sees in Ginny, Harry remarks that Ginny has nice skin. Ginny obviously reciprocates Harry's feelings, and has indeed had a crush on him since she first met him. They do exchange a kiss, at one point.

What happens to Katie Bell?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part II

She touches a cursed necklace and almost dies.. Coming back from a visit to Hogsmeade, Harry, Ron and Hermione are walking behind Katie and her friend, who is trying to dissuade Katie from taking the necklace back to Hogwarts. However Katie has been cursed and feels compelled to take the necklace back and give it to Dumbledore. Something happens that allows Katie's hand to come into contact with the necklace and she screams, rises in the air as if being crucified and then falls to the ground, where she begins to convulse. When Snape later examines the necklace, he says that Katie is lucky to be alive. She is gone from Hogwarts for some time, and when she returns she has no memory of what happened. Katie is played by Georgina Leonidas.

Who puts the love potion in the chocolates that Ron eats?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part II

Romilda Vane. At one point in the movie, Hermione points out Romilda to Harry and tells him to be careful because the word was that she was trying to slip him a love potion. Later in the film Harry comes back to find that Ron has eaten a whole box of chocolates, intended for Harry, and is head over heels in love with Romilda, who doesn't even know his name. Ron's moony-eyed performance is very amusing, as he sighs over her and begs Harry to introduce them. Harry takes him to Slughorn for a remedy, getting him to go by telling him that they are going to see Romilda. Romilda is played by Anna Shaffer.

After Slughorn gives Ron the antidote for the very powerful love potion, he offers Ron and Harry a drink from a bottle of mead he has been intending to give as a gift. The drink is poisoned and Ron goes into convulsions. How does Harry save him?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part II

with a Bezoar. As Ron lies convulsing, Slughorn looks on in horror. Harry goes through his things, finds a Bezoar and shoves it down Ron's throat. In the series, a Bezoar is something that we first hear about in the first film, when Snape gives his opening lecture to the first year students. It is a stone that can be found in the stomach of an animal and is presented as a general antidote for most poisons. In "The Half-Blood Prince" we hear Slughorn say to his first years that they will discuss the uses of a Bezoar the next day, so Harry knows that Slughorn had some when he went looking. It is later determined that the poisoned mead, like the cursed necklace, was intended for Dumbledore.

Which two horcruxes have already been destroyed?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part III

the diary and the ring. When Dumbledore explains horcruxes to Harry, he shows him the ruined shell of Tom Riddle's diary (which Harry destroyed with a Basilisk fang in "Chamber of Secrets") and the ring, the destroying of which blackened Dumbledore's hand. These are two of Voldemort's horcruxes that have been destroyed. In the book "Half-Blood Prince", we learn that the ring once belonged to Salazar Slytherin and had been passed down through his bloodline to Riddle's grandfather. This is not mentioned in the film. Dumbledore is played by Michael Gambon and Harry is played by Daniel Radcliffe.

Who does Harry take to Slughorn's Christmas party?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part III

Luna Lovegood. Harry initially suggests to Hermione that they go together but she, upset with Ron's new girlfriend, has already asked Cormac, in an attempt to make Ron jealous. So, Harry invites Luna, making sure she knows that it is just as a friend. A one time member of Dumbledore's Army, Luna's quirky habit of saying things that most people wouldn't dream of saying make her a most endearing character. She is aware of the fact that many people call her Loony and that she doesn't have many real friends, but doesn't seem to feel sorry for herself. Luna is played by Eavnna Lynch.

Who is serving drinks at Slughorn's party?"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Part III

Neville Longbottom. Neville can be seen in a white jacket, carrying a tray of drinks. When Harry speaks to him he says that he doesn't mind, seeing as he wasn't invited. He is another student who gained a lot of self-confidence from his experiences in Dumbledore's Army. Neville is played by Matthew Lewis.
