Home on the Range
Dixon Ranch. Abner Dixon had to sell his ranch after his entire herd disappeared without a trace. The movie was written and directed by Will Finn and John Sanford. They did a wonderful job in crafting a very enjoyable and memorable addition to the Disney animated classics.
Pearl. The owner of the ranch was Pearl, and the ranch really was her patch of heaven, where she lived happily with all the farm animals. Pearl was voiced by Carole Cook.

pie. This song was composed by Alan Menken, with the great lyrics of Glenn Slater.
Grace. The three bovine bounty hunters were brought to life by the voice talents of Roseanne Barr as Maggie, Judi Dench as Mrs. Caloway, and Jennifer Tilly as Grace. The correct spelling of the name is Caloway - see the Disney website. It is interesting to note how many non-Disney websites have the name spelt, incorrectly, as Calloway.
Buck. Buck was voiced by Cuba Gooding Jr. Buck dreams of being a hero and defeating the villains of the wild west, and in this movie he gets the opportunity to do this.
He yodeled and the cattle followed him. Alameda Slim's melodic yodel had the effect of putting the cattle into a hypnotic state. This hypnotic state allows Slim to march the cattle away from their ranch and into his secret lair. This charater was voiced by Randy Quaid.
Lucky Jack. Lucky Jack is introduced at the very start of the movie in an hilarious sequence of unfortunate events. Lucky Jack is portayed as a hare that could really do with a change of luck. This character was voiced by Charles Haid
A bounty hunter. Rico was of course a bounty Hunter, and for the first part of the movie he was teamed up with the horse Buck. Rico seems to have single handedly caught all the outlaws in the land, everyone except for Slim. The deep but smooth voice of Rico was provided by Charles Dennis.
Train. They take the train, which is absolutely breath-taking animation. This amazing animation of the locomotive was done by the talented animator Marlon West.
Mrs. Caloway. She loved that hat, which was a great prop for a great cow. The character development for Mrs. Caloway was done by Duncan Marjoribanks. Hey if you like this quiz, let me know and I will add another quiz; one which goes into the story details in more depth. Have fun!
Maggie. Maggie is a headstrong show cow who is the three time winner of the Golden Butter Award and the original Miss Happy Heifer. Her owner's ranch had to be sold due to his cattle being stolen. Patch of Heaven is her new home.
Pearl. Pearl is loved by all the farm animals. They all chip in to help her tend the farm.

Tin cans. Jeb is a cranky goat who hoards cans. He pinches a can from the piglets and won't give it back. After Maggie arrives, she takes a can from Jeb and has a game of tin can tag with the pigs. Jeb is not amused.

Buck. Cuba Gooding Jr does the voice of Buck. Buck is eager for some action and is not happy being a delivery horse. The Sheriff tells Pearl she needs to pay $750 that is left owing on Patch of Heaven or she will lose the farm. The Sheriff suggests she sells her animals to get money. Her response is "They're family, you don't sell family!".
Maggie the cow. Mrs Calloway, Maggie and Grace leave the farm to ask the Sheriff for more time to settle Pearl's debt. When they arrive in town they discover that a man named Alameda Slim, a cattle rustler, is wanted by the Sheriff. They hope to use the $750 reward money for his capture to save the farm.
Yodelling. Slim's yodelling hypnotises cattle which makes it easy for him and the Willie Brothers Gang to swipe the unsuspecting herds. Randy Quaid does the voice of Alameda Slim.
Grace. Grace saves Maggie and Mrs Calloway from being taken by Slim when they are entranced by his yodelling. Grace is a happy-go-lucky cow who tries to see the best in every situation. She also loves to sing, though it leaves a lot to be desired! Jennifer Tilly does the voice of Grace.
Echo Mine. This is where they stow the stolen herds until a man named Mr Wesley buys them. Mr Wesley then takes them away by train. Maggie, Grace and Mrs Calloway manage to enter Echo Mine where they unsuccessfully try to nab Slim.
Yancey O'del. Once Slim is disguised as Y. O'del he purchases the failing farms in the area. The last piece of prime land he needs is Patch of Heaven.
Pearl keeps it. All of Pearl's farm animals help to capture Slim after his cover is blown. He is taken away to jail. His reward money paid for the farm.
