Will Smith. Will Smith plays the lead role of Dr. Robert Neville, a military scientist who tries to find a vaccine for the virus before the government orders the city locked down. He earned his third Academy Award nomination for the role. His first was for the part of Muhammad Ali in the movie "Ali."

"Starry Night' by Vincent Van Gogh. When Ethan is in Dr. Neville's living room watching the movie "Shrek", you can see the painting hanging on the wall over the television. Of course, this is only a copy of the painting. The real painting has been on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City since 1941.
Samantha. The part of Samantha is played by a German Shepherd. Samantha is given to Dr. Neville by his daughter as she is evacuating the city. She turns out to be Dr. Neville's best friend and only companion after everyone else dies or becomes infected.
Marley. Marley is played by Will Smith's real life daughter, Willow and only has a small part in the movie. She is killed when the helicopter she and her mom are evacuating in crashes into another one.

yes. Dr. Neville is one of the few people who has natural immunities to the virus. He mentions in the movie that less than 1% of the world's population is immune to the virus. He tries to use his immunity to the virus to create a cure.
Cancer. The virus cures cancer for everyone who is treated with it but then mutates into a strain that is similar to rabies. By the end of the first year that the virus mutates, 90% of the population has died with another 9% becoming "the Infected."

South Street Seaport. Dr. Neville broadcasts the same message daily over the radio. He says, "My name is Robert Neville. I am a survivor living in New York City. I will be at South Street Seaport everyday at midday when the sun is highest in the sky."

Yes. When Dr. Neville, Anna and Ethan run to the basement laboratory to hide from "the Infected", they notice that the test subject is showing signs of being cured. Unfortunately, Dr. Neville never gets to try out the cure on anyone other than his test subject.

He kills himself and some of "the Infected" by detonating a grenade.. Dr. Neville sacrifices his own life in order to get the virus to others who might be out there and to prevent "the Infected" from killing Anna and Ethan. Anna and Ethan survive and are able to make it to the survivors' colony in Vermont where Anna gives the cure to military personnel.
Will Smith. He is first seen in the film hunting the deer, but leaves it for the lion which attacks it first. Will Smith left the filming for a few days to attend Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding in Rome.
James Newton Howard. The main soundtrack for the film is called "My Name is Robert Neville" and is played when the radio broadcast is being first heard. Howard wrote the music for "The Sixth Sense". He also toured with Elton John and the group Toto.
Ford Shelby Mustang GT500.. The cars used in the film are in fact all Fords. Others are the Ford Expedition used in the main part of the film, and the Ford Escape used to leave New York by Anna at the end of the film.
Alice Braga. Anna is the first person Neville has come across apart from the infected in three years. She is first seen in this film rescuing Robert Neville from the overturned car on the south port dock. She first appeared on television doing a yoghurt advert at the age of 8.
The last man on Earth is not alone.. Neville spends his time alone throughout the film, apart from his faithful dog, until he is rescued by Anna. The rights to make this film have actually been owned by Warner Bros. Their first attempt at making the film was in 1971, then it was called 'The Omega Man' and starred Charlton Heston.
Francis Lawrence. He has directed music videos for J-Lo and Britney Spears. He also directed the film "Constantine" (2005).
Both of these. It is actually for "Superman" and "Batman" films. These billboards can be seen in the large action shots of the city in which Robert Neville is driving around looking for deer. These are under the ownership of DC comics, which again is owned by Warner Brothers, the company which brought you this film.
Bob Marley. The song 'I shot the Sheriff' is sung only by Will Smith during the film. The other songs are "Three Little Birds", "Stir It Up" and "Redemption Song" these were originally sung by Bob Marley and that is the voice heard in the film.
