Pulp Fiction. Samuel plays Jules in 'Pulp Fiction'. He plays opposite John Travolta's Vincent Vega as 2 very violent and carefree hitmen. This was the film that started the ball really rolling for Samuel and resurrected John Travolta's career overnight. I've just realised whilst writing this quiz that Samuel is making a habit of starring in films with Bruce Willis!

Die Hard with a Vengeance. Samuel plays Zeus Carver and he decides to help John McClane (Bruce Willis) save New York from the mad and evil genius Simon (played by Jeremy Irons). This was the first movie in which Samuel caught my eye - and my sense of humour.
A Time To Kill. Samuel plays Carl Lee Hailey, who is accused of murdering two rednecks in a small Mississippi town. This was based on a John Grisham novel and in my mind is the best adaptation yet.
Unbreakable. The first film that Samuel made with Willis was 'National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon', then came 'Pulp Fiction' (although I don't think they shared screentime) the third was 'Die Hard With A Vengeance'. Lastly there is this little film in which Willis plays a man who is 'Unbreakable'. What I found unbelievable is that someone built like Samuel could be so fragile.

Rules of Engagement. The cast in this film is excellent. Jackson, plus Tommy Lee Jones and Ben Kingsley. The film explores the rules to be followed whilst in combat and how easy the goalposts are moved. Although Jackson is on form here, this is one of my least favourite of his films.

Out of Sight. At the end of this film, George Clooney is placed in the back of a prison van with Jackson, who, like the Clooney character, made a habit of breaking out of jail. This leads me to believe that there may be a sequel - I'm hoping, but I could be wrong. The ex-doctor is George Clooney who was Dr Doug Ross in 'ER' and the beautiful singer was Jennifer Lopez.

Jackie Brown. Jackson starred with Pam Grier in this 1997 Quentin Tarantino film. Ordell Robbie was an illegal gun dealer trying to sell his merchandise. Jackie Brown, played by Pam Grier, was a very attractive middle aged airline flight attendant, who was drawn into the picture when she was caught by federal agents smuggling gun money belonging to Robbie aboard her commercial flights. Jackie was led to believe that her only choice in avoiding prosecution was to work with the federal agents in their plan to capture Robbie while he was in possession of the evidence.

Shaft. The 2000 remake of the movie "Shaft" starred Jackson in the title role. The story focused on one time New York City police detective sergeant, John Shaft, who resigned from the police department and became a private investigator, after a judge released a killer on bail two years after the crime and recapture by Shaft. Shaft found himself first searching for, then protecting, the only eye witness to the brutal murder. During his quest to locate the witness, Shaft was often assisted by his former police partner, Detective Carmen Vasquez, who was played by former Miss America, Vanessa Williams.
The quoted line was part of a confrontation between Shaft and street savvy drug dealer Peoples Hernandez in a neighborhood coffee shop. Shaft's message was a warning to Peoples of the possible consequences of assisting the killer in the search for the missing witness.
This updated film also linked elements from the original "Shaft" movies and television series. Appearing in a cameo role as Shaft's uncle was Richard Roundtree, who originated the role of suave, street wise private detective, John Shaft, playing the role both in the movies and in a short-lived television series.
The movie also included the soulful music of composer/singer Isaac Hayes, who received a Grammy Award for the "Theme from Shaft" soundtrack in 1971.

Snakes on a Plane. The overall premise of this 2006 thriller-action film was contained in the movie title. FBI Special Agent Neville Flynn, played by Jackson, was charged with safely transporting government witness Sean Jones (Nathan Phillips) from Honolulu, Hawaii to Los Angeles, California, after he inadvertently witnessed the brutal murder of a federal prosecutor in Hawaii by a high profile drug czar.
During Flynn's first encounters and subsequent rescue of Jones from a murder attempt ordered by mobster Eddie Kim (Byron Lawson), Flynn's first words to a frightened Jones were, "I'm not going to let anything happen to you."
Kim's plan to prevent Jones from reaching Los Angeles and testifying against him involved the loading of the plane with a wide assortment of deadly poisonous snakes that would be released while the plane was in flight. Flynn soon found himself in a life and death battle to eradicate the slithering serpents and prevent them from killing the crew of the plane, which would cause the aircraft to crash.
Also featured in this film were Julianna Margulies, Flex Alexander, and Keenan Thompson.

S.W.A.T.. Jackson starred in this 2003 action-packed film as LAPD Sergeant Dan "Hondo" Harrelson. Hondo, a past veteran of S.W.A.T., was asked to return to the unit by the chief of police and assigned to recruit and train a new "element" for LAPD's elite tactical crime fighting unit.
Training for S.W.A.T. included the officers competing on an obstacle course/firing range. In one training exercise, Hondo was paired with fellow S.W.A.T. officer T.J. McCabe (Josh Charles), with the objective of approaching several armed suspects and the delivery of deadly fire power. When the exercise started, both officers approached the targets, simulating combat conditions, with McCabe diving and rolling on the ground at one point to diminish his target mass and to take cover. Hondo instead elected the direct approach, walking directly towards the target while firing his weapon. At the conclusion of the exercise, as both men awaited announcement of their scores, McCabe asked Hondo whether or not he performed a roll maneuver (on the ground) to avoid the simulated gunfire. Hondo responded to McCabe's inquiry with the quote.

Rules of Engagement. Jackson teamed with Tommy Lee Jones in this 2000 military action thriller. Rounding out the cast were veteran performers Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, and Blair Underwood.
Col. Terry Childers was the commander of a rapid deployment detachment of U.S. Marines sent to Yemen to protect and evacuate the personnel in the U.S. Embassy, as local civilians prepared to overrun and capture the compound. As hostilities of the mob outside of the Embassy escalated, Childers, believing that he saw some of the civilians carrying lethal weapons, thus presenting an immediate threat to the welfare of his troops, ordered them to open fire into the group of advancing insurgents.
This resulted in the U.S. Government bringing charges against Childers for his actions. The Government felt that Childers should be "sacrificed" in a court-martial to prevent a possible backlash to other U.S. Embassies and American citizens abroad. The volatile exchange took place in the office of Maj. Mark Biggs as he questioned Col. Terry Childers regarding the shooting incident outside of the foreign U.S. Embassy. It was the contention of Major Biggs that by following the established "Rules of Engagement", the shootings would not have occurred, and that the rules were ignored by Col. Childers during the action.
At his court-martial proceedings, Childers was represented by Col. Hayes "Hodge" Hodges, played by Tommy Lee Jones. Hodge was a burnt-out, disillusioned military attorney, who ironically was himself rescued by Childers 20 years earlier during the Vietnam conflict. Guy Pearce played Major Mark Biggs, a young by-the-book military officer who wanted Childers prosecuted for the incident.

Pulp Fiction. The movie revolved around a series of intertwined short stories, shown in four scenarios, involving a team of two mob hit men, a gangsters wife, a down and out boxer, and a nervous young couple committing a hold-up at a neighborhood diner.
One scene involved a group of young men who made the mistake of running afoul of crime boss Marsellus Wallace. As a result, the men received an early morning visit from Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) and Vincent Vega (John Travolta), two of Wallace's hit men. Upon entering the room, one of the men, Brett, was confronted my Jules Winnfield. Terrified, but hopeful that he could explain his way out of the situation, Brett timidly related to Winnfield, "... I just want you to know how sorry we are that things got 'messed up' with us and Mr. Wallace. We got into this thing with the best of intentions, and I never..." At that point, to the absolute horror of Brett, Winnfield without cause or emotion, calmly pointed his gun at another man sitting on the couch, and shot him. Winnfield then said to Brett, "I'm sorry, did I break your concentration? I didn't mean to do that. Please continue, you were saying something about best intentions. What's the matter? Oh, you're finished? Well allow me to retort. What does Marsellus Wallace look like?" Winnfield's conversation continued for a few moment before the scene ended. Unfortunately, not all of the men in the room survived the ordeal.
This 1994 movie was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, who along with his writing partner Roger Avary, won the 1995 Academy Award for "Best Writing" for their efforts. The movie also earned six additional Academy Award nominations, including the "Best Actor in a Lead Role" for John Travolta, "Best Actor in a Supporting Role" for Samuel L. Jackson, and "Best Actress in a Supporting Role" for Uma Thurman. Rounding out this stellar cast of performers were Bruce Willis, Eric Stoltz, Ving Rhames, Tim Roth, and Amanda Plummer.

Die Hard: With a Vengeance. In the scene, New York City Police Lieutenant John McClane (Bruce Willis) and good Samaritan Zeus Carver (Jackson) were in a taxicab, with McClane driving erratically through Central Park, trying to reach a train station before a bomb planted in a train station was detonated by terrorists.

Jurassic Park. As things started to go awry at Jurassic Park, a group of people including Ray Arnold found themselves barricaded in the control room. The group decided that as part of their survival effort, they would have to temporarily shut down the mainframe computer that controlled the park's environment. A happenstance event brings two men together, one a high power attorney heading to court for a big case, the other a down on his luck insurance salesman heading to court for a child custody hearing. The Negotiator. Lt. Danny Roman (Jackson) found himself falsely accused of the murder of his partner and the theft of funds from the police pension fund. To make matters worse, Roman, a trained police negotiator, must himself take hostages in the police headquarters to find the evidence that will clear his name. Roman's survival is left to a second police negotiator, Lt. Chris Sabian (Kevin Spacey) who wanted to try and resolve the situation without anyone getting hurt. Known to each other only by professional reputation, Roman and Sabian form a bond and become unlikely partner in seeking the truth.
