Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The
Fred. Fred remarks to Brom Bones about Ichabod Crane as he is being chased by dogs.
Scare Crane. He says, "why this isn't a scare crow, it's a scared Crane!"
turpentine tonic. He says he is tougher than old moose meat and meaner than turpentine tonic.
Dutcher. Ichabod calls him Mr. Dutcher after he leaves their first encounter at the beginning of the movie.
for adventure. When Vanderhoof asked him at the beginning of the movie why he came to Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod replied: "Adventure, sir." Vanderhoof replied, "Well you've come to the wrong place. Sleepy Hollow is about as exciting as fried mush."
Chief Running Buffalo. Mr. Vanderhoof said the owl was the spirit of a dead Indian.
George Washington. You can see the picture numerous times throughout the film.
Fritz. The Squire calls him Fritz, as does Ichabod at times. But mostly throughout the movie he is known as Mr. Vanderhoof.
Dumpkey. Her maiden name is Vanderhoof, being the daughter of Mr. Vanderhoof, but she is a widow of a man everyone called "Dumpkey" after his last name.
12. You can count them, as they walk in the schoolhouse, when Ichabod rings the school bell.
Mr. Vanderhoof. He says it when he sees Brom trying to relax his muscle he pulled.
"Do you recall that morning...". Ichabod is playing the organ as she sings the opening line: "Do you recall that morning the birds so gaily singing?"
Karl. The Squire only mentions his name a few times throughout the movie.
Ichabod implied that Vanderhoof had a black horse. Vanderhoof said: "Have you gone looney? I ain't got no black horse!"
The Battle of Yonkers. During his conversation with Palmer, Ichabod identifies the Headless Horseman as the fabled soldier who lost his head in the battle of Yonkers.
Gunpowder . During the scene with the Headless Horseman, Ichabod says "Woah Gunpowder!"
Fred. Mr. Vanderhoof informed Ichabod that Fred Dutcher saw Palmer get chased into the river first-hand when recounting the story of Palmer.
"Away, away, into the reaches of the velvet night, noble steed". Ichabod says this after kissing Katrina at the winter ball.
Utah. Thought the story takes place in Sleepy Hollow, New York, the film was shot in Park City, Utah. You may have noticed the mountains in the background. There are no mountains that large in New York.
