Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information
Masters of the Universe
Eternia. Although the majority of the film takes place on Earth, our first image is of Castle Greyskull, located on He-Man's homeworld of Eternia. Etheria was the homeworld of He-Man's female counterpart She-Ra, who never got her own movie. Third Earth was the primary setting of 'Thundercats,' one of the original 'MOTU' rivals on both the toy shelves and television.
Only one of the four mercenaries dispatched to Earth by the evil Skeletor had been a 'MOTU' character prior to the movie (the others were made new for the film). Which one was it? | Masters of The Universe: The Motion Picture
|
Beast Man. Beast Man has been one of the seminal 'MOTU' characters, and was carried over into the film.
Although Skeletor's forces occupy the newly-captured Castle Greyskull for the majority of the film, the hero characters make passing reference to the bad guys' usual base of operations. What is it called? | Masters of The Universe: The Motion Picture
|
Snake Mountain. When Skeletor captures He-Man's friends, Gwildor swears he would 'never willingly serve the lord of Snake Mountain.' Snake Mountain was Skeletor's lair in the series and toy line, though we never actually see it in the film.
Cow. In accordance with the laws of mid-80's scifi movies, even alien beings who seem perfectly competent on their homeworld are utterly perplexed by the most mundane facets of Earth. 'Cause, y'know, it's funny and stuff.
Lubic. Like the film needed one more human character to 'react' to the proceedings...
2. He-Man only says it after retrieving the Sword of Greyskull from Skeletor during the climax, and again as the intro to the opening credits.
Lubic. Apparently the Romanesque splendor of Greyskull is more appealing than the life of a Midwestern police detective. Who'd have thought?
We learn that Detective Lubic is a war veteran after he compares his tour of duty to the battle between He-Man and Skeletor's soldiers he's just witnessed. Which war did he serve in? | Masters of The Universe: The Motion Picture
|
Korean War. Lubic tells his skeptical fellow officers that he was in Korea and 'didn't see nothin' like this!'
Chemical Engineering. Lundgren came to the states after receiving his degree to study at MIT, where he got bitten by the acting bug and made a dramatic career change. Seriously.
Dolph Lundgren. Dolph Lundgren has starred in other movies such as 'Rocky 4' and 'Red Scorpion'.
Courtney Cox. Courtney Cox was just 16 when she played Julie.
Gwildor. Gwildor is an inventor and wished he never created the Cosmic Key after he gets into trouble because of it.
Adventures. Gwildor says this just before he leaves his house to escape Skeletor's soldiers.
Till Moonrise. All the power would have been sucked out of the Sorcress when moonrise came around. Of course He-Man saves her.
A cow. They see a cow and don't know what it is. Gwildor tries communicating with it.
8:30. Kevin asks Julie this question and she responds by saying 8:30.
Japanese Synthesisor. Kevin thinks it is a Japanese Synthesisor but soon realises it is more than that.
Charlie. Charlie owns the local music store and is very excited to see the Cosmic Key.
Carl. Carl is beaten up pretty badly by Skeletor's mercenary team. This team consisted of Karg, Saurod, Beast Man and Blade.
Pink. It is pink and Gwildor transforms it so it doesn't have to run on petrol.
Microwave. The microwave jams the signal. Evil-Lyn orders the soldier to blow up the cause of the jammed signal.
The collar. Kevin has a collar put around his neck. The collar makes Kevin answer all of Evil-Lyn's questions truthfully.
Russia. Lubic asks Charlie whether he thinks it is Russian.
850 years. Lubic is angry about being held like a hostage and yells at Kevin and Julie that he would put them away for 850 years.
Shotgun. Lubic takes the gun and sets out after the Eternians.
Right. When they look at it you can see it is her right leg.
Keyboard. He gets a keyboard from Charlie's music store.
Blade. Blade uses an orange whip. He-Man is lashed numerous times on the back. This is because he won't kneel before Skeletor.
The Great Eye Opens. The great eye opens and Skeletor gets the power of Greyskull.
'I have the power'. This is the most famous line from 'Masters of the Universe'.
