Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information

    Quadrophenia

The film was actually based on a music album released in 1973 (both called "Quadrophenia"). What was the name of the band who released the album?Quadrophenia

The Who. Some tracks off the album featured on the film and these were mixed in with 1960s songs from other artists. All four members of The Who (including the recently deceased Keith Moon) were executive producers of the film.

In which city is the film set?Quadrophenia

London. West London. Where all The Who members were originally from.

Jimmy does what job for a living?Quadrophenia

Messenger boy. For an advertising company in the city of London.

Jimmy and friends go to a party. There is a slow dance record playing and he decides to liven up the proceedings by playing which well known 1960s hit?Quadrophenia

My generation. Not hard to guess that it was a Who track! A small mistake may have occurred here though. The film is supposedly based on the 'Mods vs Rockers' riot in Brighton, Easter 1964. Yet 'My Generation' wasn't released until late 1965. The 'Mod' movement had virtually expired by then.

Jimmy is shocked and surprised to see his old friend Kevin in a cafe. Why?Quadrophenia

He's a Rocker. The 'Rockers' were the 'Mods' arch enemies. Both groups fought continual battles at English seaside resorts mainly in 1964. The 'Rockers' were descendants of the 'Teddy Boys' of the 1950s and their musical tastes were American rock'n'roll. The 'Mods' (from 'Modernists') were a very English youth cult movement which lasted from 1963-1966. A 'Mod' revival occurred again around fifteen years later and was just as short lived.

It's Easter bank holiday. Which seaside resort do Jimmy and friends head to?Quadrophenia

Brighton. The beachfront at Brighton was the most famous battle. The other three resorts listed in the question also had trouble around the same time.

Why does Jimmy get thrown out of the nightclub?Quadrophenia

He leaps off a balcony. In a famous scene from the film, Jimmy leaps from a balcony inside the nightclub and falls towards a packed dancefloor. All his friends, however, catch him just as he's about to hit the floor.

    Which singer/actor played 'Ace'?Quadrophenia

Sting. Sting had just hit the big time with The Police around the time this film was being made.

On his return home, Jimmy's mother kicks him out of the house. For what reason?Quadrophenia

Drugs. Jimmy's mother finds a large bag of amphetamine pills hidden underneath his bed.

Jimmy later returns to the same seaside resort on his own. Here he finds that 'Ace' is working as a what?Quadrophenia

Bell Boy. 'Ace' works as a Bell Boy in the famous Grand Hotel on Brighton's seafront.
