yes. Oww! It did look pretty painful and Dean was a Method actor! In a scene in 'East of Eden' where he had to look really uptight he didn't go to the toilet for hours!
His mother and father. This was said by Jim when they are at the police station. Jim is fed up of their arguing and them not listening to what he has to say. Jim's mother and father were played by Jim Backus and Ann Doran.
'Who lives?'. Judy lives next door to Jim with her 'overprotective' father, her mother and her little brother, Beau. This quote is said to Judy when Jim first meets her - at first she dislikes him, but soon they are in 'love'.
trouble. Unfortunately Jim does run into trouble! After being called 'chicken' he fights with Buzz and later in the film, is chased by the police whilst hiding in the old manor! The film ends on a sad note with the death of Plato.
Buzz. Buzz was played by Corey Allen. The 'chicky race' involved driving two cars towards a cliff face - the first to jump out was a chicken. Unfortunately for Buzz his car door stuck. I think I'd rather be chicken than dead!
West Side Story. The actress was Natalie Wood and the film, 'West Side Story', was based on Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'.
John. Plato was played by Sal Mineo and he was only 16 when he appeared in the film - 8 years younger than James Dean.
Jim Stark. The name 'Jim' comes from James Dean's own name and 'Stark' is an anagram of Dean's character in 'East of Eden' (Trask).
Nicholas Ray. Nicolas Ray also wrote the original story. He researched L.A. gangs by riding around with them for several nights.
