Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information
Robin Hood (1973)
What animal plays Alan-a-Dale, the minstrel who opens and narrates much of the movie? | Robin Hood
|
a rooster. This guy is my favorite character, besides Robin himself, of course. And Skippy. And Clucky. And Little John. Oh, I just can't choose. I have too many favorites!
At the beginning of the movie, Robin Hood and Little John see Prince John's royal carriage riding by. What do they disguise themselves as to rob the procession? | Robin Hood
|
gypsies. Oo-da-lally! Fortunes forecast, lucky stars!
Robin disguises himself yet again to distribute the money, this time as a poor blind man. He visits a family of rabbits who are celebrating something. What are they celebrating? | Robin Hood
|
a birthday. Skippy's birthday, to be specific. The family has 'scrimped and saved' to give him a single coin for his birthday, but the mean old sheriff steals it for tax money. Robin shows up just in time to cheer Skippy up by giving him Robin's own hat and a bow and arrow to match.
How did Robin Hood and Maid Marian know each other? | Robin Hood
|
They were sweethearts. I'll be surprised if anyone gets this wrong. If you did, I'll have to suggest that you see the movie gain. If you got it right, I'll have to suggest you reward yourself by seeing the movie again.
When we first meet Maid Marian and her lady-in-waiting Clucky, Skippy and his sisters and friend Toby are very worried that they will get in trouble with Prince John. What have they done to make them so frightened? | Robin Hood
|
shot an arrow into his yard. Skippy was trying out his new bow and arrow when he shot it into the palace's backyard. Although he was shaking in his little blue shirt, he pretended to be as brave as Robin Hood and walked right in to get the arrow back. He and his little gang made two new friends because of {this;} Maid Marian and Clucky.
Robin and Little John are at their camp in Sherwood Forest talking about Maid Marian when someone comes to tell them about Prince John's archery contest. Who is it that tells them about the contest? | Robin Hood
|
Friar Tuck. If you've seen the movie, you know this one. Robin has been daydreaming and humming and letting the soup burn. Poor Little John has to leave the laundry and try to save it. Friar Tuck shows up and not only tells them the news about the contest, but also about the prize: a kiss from Maid Marian to the winner.
Robin Hood and Little John show up at the contest, knowing that it's probably a trap but unable to resist the temptation to show off their cleverness. Robin is disguised as a stork ('This disguise would fool my own mother!' 'Yeah, but you're mother ain't {here;} you've got to fool old bushel-britches.') What is Little John's disguise? | Robin Hood
|
Sir Reginald, Duke of Chutney. I love this whole contest slash fight slash escape scene. Every part of it. It's great.
Prince John's plan to capture Robin Hood at the archery contest fails. This depresses him until he comes up with another plan. What was his new plan? | Robin Hood
|
hang Friar Tuck. This didn't quite work, either. Robin Hood showed up all right, but he managed to escape with all of the poor townspeople in jail, all of the stolen taxes, and his life. Plus he managed to burn down Prince John's castle. Wow. I guess Robin never does things by halves.
Let's go back a couple of steps. After the escape, Robin and Marian have a few moments alone together and Robin gives Marian an engagement ring. What is the ring made of? | Robin Hood
|
a flower. He puts it on her finger and a firefly lights it up. Very pretty, but I like the next part better when everybody jumps out and yells surprise and they all have a loud, goofy party.
King Richard. I know you all got this one right. King Richard returns from the Crusades at the end of the movie just in time, it seems, to pardon Robin Hood and send his brother and all of his brother's accomplices off to the rock pile. I was a little disappointed that Trigger and Nuttsie ended up there. They were some of my favorites, too. (I'm sure you're all sick of hearing that by now) Besides, they were only following orders and they weren't quite smart enough to know that they were working for the bad guys, if you ask me. Which you didn't. Hope you liked the quiz!
lion. He looks more like a lion cub than a full grown lion like his brother, but maybe that's because he's still such a baby.
wolf. People may call him a rat, but he isn't actually a rat. Of course, it would have made quite a statement if he had been.
hen . She's one of my favorites. But then again, most of the charcters are my favorites, so that doesn't say much.
dog. He's the one with the broken leg.
wolves and rhinoceros. Someone kindly pointed out to me that there are also elephants and alligators involved in the fighting scenes, but I think the main purpose of those two kinds of animals are heralds and couriers. I did, however, phrase my question a little differently. Thank you, my helpful friend, wherever and whoever you are!
Father and Mother. It was the Sheriff that called the female mouse 'Little Sister', not her husband.
turtle. He's another favorite of mine. Anyway, I just want to make another plug for this movie and for another wonderful Robin Hood movie-the Errol Flynn version, Adventures of Robin Hood. Hope you had fun!

|
Yes. Yes, unfortunately it didn't make it through to the final.
Fox . Robin and Marian are of course foxes and this is great casting as Robin is so cunning and clever and Marian is very pretty, and some may say "a pretty foxy lady". Their voices were provided by Brian Bedford and Monica Evans.
