Sydney refused to do an interview with Cotton. In another scene, Cotton found Sydney in the library and told her that Diane Sawyer offered to do an exclusive interview with both of them, and this upset Sydney. Sydney started to run from Cotton and he raised his voice and Sydney's guards arrested Cotton. Cotton was released from police custody shortly after this. In Cotton's next scene, he came upon Gale and his hands were all bloody. Gale assumed that Cotton had attacked Dewey and ran from him but Cotton tried to tell her that he tried to help Dewey. The phone had a bad connection so she could not report her problem to them. The killer sprang from a closet and went after Cici. Cici ran up the stairs and threw a plant and a bicycle at the killer. Sydney slapped Gale and Hallie asked Joel if he got that filmed and Joel told her he did. Joel told Gale that he read her book, "The Woodsboro Murders", and stated that he had hesitations on being her cameraman since her last one was gutted. Gale said that Kenny was not gutted and she made it up since he actually suffered from a slashed throat. Joel quit his job as Gale's cameraman since he did not want to be caught up in the murders.
