| Do Rose and her daughter live in Silent Hill the end of the film? | Silent Hill

No. After Cybil is burned, Rose returns to the church where she is quickly stabbed by Christabella. Her blood causes the darkness to enter the church and they are attacked by endless strands of barbed wire controlled by Alessa. As Christabella is ripped in half by the barbed wire, Rose saves Sharon from her ladder (used to burn her). In the end, everyone has been killed in the town except for Sharon, Rose, and Dahlia (because in the eyes of a child, a mother is God). They get into the car and drive home leaving Silent Hill behind.
Although it may seem like they make it out of the town alive, they had been dead, or 'in limbo' either since they crashed their car at the town's entrance (as did Cybil), or since they were in the church. Silent Hill is somewhat of a purgatory, and though the residents were really dead, they weren't quite in Hell yet. In the end, Rose and Sharon are still stuck in the 'Silent Hill-like' fog and the purgatory, though it's left up to the viewer to decide what really happens to the two.

The Nathan Motel. After passing through some murderous nurses, Rose finally reaches room B151. Here, the dark side of Alessa tells her the story of Alessa's past. The residents deemed her a witch and they tried to burn her in Room 111 of Brookhaven Hospital. Dahlia went for help and didn't reach her in time. She was somewhat saved, but she was horribly burned. In Room B151 of the hospital, she had the chance to get revenge, so she took it. After the dark Alessa uses Rose's body, they head to the church to save the good Alessa (Sharon), who is being prepared to burn at the stake.
Meanwhile, Cybil is burned overtop of the fire in the church because the townspeople fear that she may also be evil.

Toulca County Orphanage. After breaking into the Archives Building and finding a picture of Alessa (who looks identical to Sharon), Chris heads to the source, the Toulca County Orphanage, in order to find how Sharon came to them. He speaks with a nun there and Detective Gucci tells him the truth about it. After this, Chris is escorted back to Ohio and he returns home.

Anna. Anna is one of the residents of Silent Hill and she provides Rose and Cybil with information as they head through the town. When they all head to the church to evade 'the darkness', and Dahlia claims that they all brought this upon themselves (possibly for the town's witch burnings). Anna is killed by Pyramidhead before she can enter the church, but they close the doors to save the rest of them. The residents think that Rose is a witch, but Cybil uses her gun to stop them from attacking her. The leader of the group, Christabella is also introduced.
Behind a large picture. After everything turns to ash once again, Cybil and Rose go to the Grand Hotel where they meet Dahlia again and a woman named Anna. They find another picture in the hotel mailboxes and head to Room 111. They don't find it on the first floor, but Rose notices that it's behind a large picture of a witch burning. Inside they have to jump across a large gap between buildings and they once again spot and chase Alessa/Sharon. They finally catch up to her this time, but she bursts into flames. Once again, the air sirens go off and this time they run for the church.

Colin. At the school, Rose walks into a classroom and finds the journal of Alessa Gillespie in one of the desks. Alessa is actually Dahlia's daughter (Dahlia is a woman that Rose ran into when she came into town). Suddenly, a girl runs by the room and Rose chases her to a bathroom stall, but when she opens it, she finds a janitor strung up in the stall using barbed wire. On the wall, written in blood is "Dare you, dare you, double dare you" and an arrow pointing to 'Colin's' mouth. Inside, Rose finds a clue leading to the Grand Hotel, and she runs into Cybil again after the air raid sirens go off. After this they are attacked by Pyramidhead.

The school. After Rose follows Sharon underground, she comes across a dead body strung onto a fence and she's attacked by fiery creatures. However, she wakes up in a room playing Johnny Cash on the jukebox and she runs back to the car. Here she tries to call Chris, but all he hears is static. Cybil reappears at this time and handcuffs Rose, but when they're attacked by a creature that spits acid, Rose takes the opportunity and runs to the school- a location on one of Sharon's pictures.

Cybill. Before they can reach Silent Hill, Rose learns that the road to Silent Hill has been blocked, but she proceeds anyways. A cop, Cybil, pulls Rose over, but when she sees a nearby sign for Silent Hill, they speed up and Cybil chases her. Rose is speeding so fast that she hits a young girl (who's actually a ghost), and she crashes the car. When she wakes up, it's daytime, and Sharon is gone.
Sharon. Sharon has a huge problem with sleepwalking. Occasionally, she'll actually leave the house. In one occasion, Rose and Chris save Sharon at the last minute before she plunges off a waterfall near their house. After this, Rose decides to take Sharon to Silent Hill, a place that Sharon mentioned in her sleep, in order to see if there's an answer there. When Rose leaves, she doesn't tell Chris, and he finds that Silent Hill, West Virginia is haunted. A large fire underneath the city destroyed the population.
Mother is God in the eyes of a child.. Dahlia is left wondering why she wasn't taken with the others. Rose says "Because you're her mother. Mother is God in the eyes of a child".

The dark part of Allessa. Allessa is strapped to a bed because of her burns. Sharon is hidden by Dahlia this whole time and Christabella is the religious woman who burned Allessa. The dark part of Allessa is unable to enter the church because of the refugees' "faith" so she enters through Rose.
She's burned to death.. Officer Bennette is burned because she is accused of aiding the witch. Christabella states that all who aid the witch must be purified by the "fires which made them".
Dahlia's sister. Christabella is highly religious and wants to purify Silent Hill. She calls Rose and Cybil witches because she notices the resemblance between Sharon and Allessa and even burns Cybil to death. Christabella is the reason Allessa caused the curse, because she burned Allessa alive.
Allessa's mother, Christabella's sister. Dahlia gave her daughter up to Christabella for the burning and was outcast by the rest of the refugees in Silent Hill, calling them damned and taking care of Sharon secretly. Dahlia is able to stay outside the church during the darkness without harm.
The Grey Pyramid rips her apart.. Pyramidhead/the Grey Pyramid shows up after the darkness and we see him rip off her clothes then her skin. Anna decides to stay out after the darkness comes and pelts Dahlia with chunks of rock. Her blood splatters in the church when Pyramidhead/The Grey Pyramid throws her skin against the closing doors.

The Grey Pyramid. Pyramidhead is his name in the game, but in the movie they refer to him as the Great Pyramid. He carries a huge sword and in the movie, the bugs are the warning that he's near. He's about seven feet tall. We see him in the school surrounded by bugs and that is how Rose knows that it's Pyramidhead.
Sharon. Rose and Christopher adopted Sharon, who we later find out is both Allessa's daughter and the lighter side of Allessa. Sharon sleepwalks and has no memories of Silent Hill, though she continuously screams its name in her sleep. Her pictures are altered but she says she isn't the one who does it and asks her mother who did.
The witch who the people of Silent Hill tried to burn.. Allessa was burned in the church but survived, causing the curse in Silent Hill. She was convicted of being a witch because her mother, Dahlia, didn't name her father. Her darker side is seen continuously through the movie and Sharon is the lighter, innocent side of Allessa.

There is a coal fire burning under the city.. The people outside of the city blame the coal fire as the cause of Silent Hill closing down. They also state that some people tried to escape the fire. People have died and some have disappeared, but a lot of the bodies aren't found. The road to Silent Hill is closed with a chained up gate, which we see Rose pass through to get to Silent Hill, while being pursued by Officer Cybil Bennette.
Dark Alessa. The last image was that of Dark Alessa, covered in splatters of blood from the last church scene, gazing and smiling at Sharon's cinematic point-of-view. This was the same shot as in the actual church scene, where Dark Alessa presumed merged with Sharon, but with the background blacked out. The main cast credits appeared toward the beginning, and the flashlight was the shot just previous to Dark Alessa's.
DOMINE DEUS OMNIPOTENS.... The full writing was "DOMINE DEUS OMNIPOTENS IN CUIUS MANU OMNIS VICTORIA CONSISTIT..." This translates to "O Lord God Almighty in Whose hand all victory rests..." It is part of an Old English prayer from the Pre-conquest era, which was painted in gold above the painting of a witch-burning. As this can be read during the execution of justice at the end of the movie - devil's style - it was ironically apparent that even such an essential belief for the cult was false.

Man's, God's and the Devil's. Gucci revealed the burn scars on his hands as he explained "[there are] many different forms of justice, Chris. See you've got man's, God's and even the Devil's. Certain forms that you just can't control." Gucci alluded to the fact that what happened in Silent Hill was not the the type of justice Chris would expect but may well have been the justice of the so-called Devil.

The book of life. The prayer was a condensed version of a passage from the book of Revelation (20:11-15) from the Bible.
"And then I saw them from whose presence earth and heaven fled away. And no home was left to them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, and they were judged according to their deeds. And anyone's name not found written in the book of life - they will be thrown into the lake of fire."
Upon reading this, the cult was able to lift the Darkness once again.
Her perfume. Chris was in the school yard when Rose ran through the same space he was occupying during the Darkness. There was an immediate effect on Chris, who only later noticed the door behind him close. He mentioned recognizing Rose's perfume twice.

Hospital. When shown in close-up detail the cuts were discontinuous, but the entire layout could be seen in the wider shots. The landmarks indicated that, situated from south to north, were the Post Office, Hospital, then Widwich School. The route Rose followed was Route 119.
"Ring of Fire" sung by Johnny Cash. When the Grey Children disappeared and the Darkness had lifted, Rose found herself in a bowling alley with "Ring of Fire" being played on an old jukebox - one of several references to the theme of Hell. The song was originally sung by Anita Carter, but written by her sister, June, describing her emotions over the conflict she had in her relationship with Johnny Cash and his drug addiction.
Da Silva. There were many instances where the surname was spoken in the movie. It could be heard twice on an answering machine. Chris introduced himself to Inspector Thomas Gucci with his full name. Gucci announced Rose's full name over his car's speakers in Silent Hill. The spelling, of course, could be found in the film credits.

Lion. The picture depicted only the lion's behind, and he was being embraced by a girl in blue. The other animals in the picture included birds, a sloth, a tiger and a giraffe, among other largely unidentifiable things. Sharon's mother, Rose, commented "This is an amazing lion.", before the two began meowing at each other.
White. "Silent Hill" was written as if in white paint on what seemed to be a cracked, black slate of stone. White snow or ash could also be seen to float in front of it.
