    Sleeper

    Was the leader successfully cloned?Sleeper

No. Miles and Luna disguised themselves as doctors, posed as surgeons to perform the cloning and escaped from the operating room with the nose. After being chased by security and medical staff, Miles managed to throw the nose under a steamroller. It was flattened along with the Aries Project.

What was the purpose of the government's secret project?Sleeper

a plan to clone the leader from his nose. The future society's leader had been killed by a bomb planted by the underground and the only part of him left was his nose. The plan was to clone the leader from his nose. On "Aries Day" the most prominent scientists and doctors assembled for the operation for the purpose of cloning their leader.

What kind of car did Miles and Luna discover in the cave after their escape from the government security forces?Sleeper

Volkswagen. Administration security was on to Miles. Miles escaped disguised as a robot in the back of a Domesticon van. He was delivered to the home of Luna Schlosser (Diane Keaton) where he posed as a domestic servant. Luna tried to turn Miles into the police but the plan backfired. Luna had been corrupted by having spent too much time with (the alien) Miles. They escaped together and found a 200-year-old Volkswagen in a cave. Remarkably, it started the first time. Miles said "They really built these things, didn't they?"

The members of the underground wanted Miles to infiltrate the administration and find out what their new project was all about. What was the name of this project?Sleeper

The Aries Project. Miles was the perfect candidate for gaining access to the administration since he had emerged into this future society without an electronic identity. Everyone else had been cataloged, fingerprinted, photographed, voice-printed and computerized. Miles was not amenable to the idea, particularly since it might involve torture. He said that he was not the heroic type and that he was once beaten up by Quakers.

In another clip from the 20th century, having to watch whom was described as a form of punishment?Sleeper

Howard Cosell. They were watching a clip of Howard Cosell talking about Muhammad Ali. The scientist surmised that when citizens of the 20th century were found guilty of committing a crime against the state, they were forced to watch Howard Cosell. Miles said "Yes, that's exactly what that was."

After reviving him, the scientists took Miles to a secluded home. He wanted to have something special for breakfast. What was it?Sleeper

wheat germ, organic honey and tiger's milk. Miles requested wheat germ, organic honey and tiger's milk as those were the types of food that were supposed to contain life-preserving properties. One of the scientists said "You mean there was no deep fat, steak, cream pies or fudge?" The other scientist remarked "Those were thought to be unhealthy, precisely the opposite of what we now know to be true." Also, future scientists believed that tobacco was one of the healthiest things for your body.

What was Miles' occupation in 1973?Sleeper

health food restaurant owner. The scientists who revived Miles received all of their information from a data card enclosed in the capsule. It said he was part owner of the Happy Carrot Health Food Restaurant. As you come to find out later in the film, the concept of health food changed somewhat in the future.

What musical instrument did Miles play in the 20th century?Sleeper

clarinet. Miles was a clarinet player for the Ragtime Rascals. Woody Allen does play the clarinet in real life and played with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band for the soundtrack of this film.

Miles Monroe (Woody Allen) was revived after 200 years in cryostasis. When he was revived, what was he wrapped in?Sleeper

tinfoil. He was wrapped in tinfoil or aluminum foil. Miles had been admitted to St. Vincent's Hospital for a routine exploration of a peptic ulcer. Complications set in and he was admitted for cryogenic immersion by his cousin. The scientists removed him from his capsule and delicately removed the tinfoil covering. It was also funny to see that he had been frozen with his glasses on.

What is the name of the secret government plan to clone the Leader?"Sleeper": Silly Sci-Fi

The Aires Project. The project involves cloning a new leader from the leader's nose, which is the only thing left after he is killed by a bomb. Miles and Luna have to infiltrate the research facility and steal the nose. At one point Miles hides it under his surgeon's mask! They end up destroying the nose by throwing it underneath a steam roller.

After he is assimilated by the government, Miles gets a robotic dog as a pet. What is the dog's name?"Sleeper": Silly Sci-Fi

Rags. Miles is concerned that the robot dog is housebroken, and thus won't leave little batteries laying around. Miles doesn't have enough time in yet for his own android!

Hiding in a cave from the government, Miles and Luna happen upon an old car. What kind of car is it?"Sleeper": Silly Sci-Fi

A Volkswagen Beetle. It's in pretty good shape, despite centuries of cave dust and being covered in piles of tree limbs. To get up enough strength to push the yellow "slug bug", Miles and Luna eat a meal of giant celery and bananas the size of surfboards!

The scientists who discover Miles say the world was destroyed when a madman got hold of a nuclear device. What was the madman's name?"Sleeper": Silly Sci-Fi

Albert Shanker. In real life, Shanker was the head of the American Federation of Teachers at the time. What a hilarious play on Allen's indictment of the education system! There was no more information given in the movie about the character of Shanker.

The screenplay is actually based on the novel "When The Sleeper Wakes" penned by what sci-fi author?"Sleeper": Silly Sci-Fi

H.G. Wells. H.G. Wells wrote many science fiction novels around the turn of the twentieth century, including "The Invisible Man" and "War Of The Worlds." Of course, the interpretation of "The Sleeper Awakes" is a loose interpretation! Allen really did call on some of the science fiction giants of the day for script ideas, including Issac Asimov and Ben Bova.

Miles joins the Resistance and falls in love with Luna. But Luna is dating the Resistance leader, and Miles becomes jealous. What is the Resistance leader's name?"Sleeper": Silly Sci-Fi

Erno. Erno is played by John Beck, who also plays Moonpie in the science fiction film "Rollerball." At one point Miles tells Luna that Erno is away from camp "taking his handsome lessons". He's a tall guy with a big moustache and "wall-to-wall muscles" according to Miles.

Hiding from the government, Miles disguises himself as a robot servant and is subsequently assigned to Diane Keaton's character, Luna. What does Luna do for a living?"Sleeper": Silly Sci-Fi

Writes poetry. She has sold several poems, including greeting cards. Her boyfriend in the film compares her to poet Rod McKuen.

When questioned by the scientists, Monroe says he owns a health food store in Greenwich Village. What is the name of the store?"Sleeper": Silly Sci-Fi

The Happy Carrot. He comments, at dinner, that futuristic food tastes so bad he should sell it in his store. Some of the breakfast items he requests are wheat germ and organic honey. Instead the give him deep fried fatty foods and fudge which, in the future, are considered healthy.

When Dr. Aragon - one of the scientists supervising his recovery - shows Miles pictures of people from the past, asking for identification, what does Miles say about Bela Lugosi?"Sleeper": Silly Sci-Fi

He was mayor of New York.. Bela Lugosi was a famous horror movie actor who played Dracula. Miles is also shown pictures of Stalin, Charles DeGaulle and a video of Howard Cosell as well. When he is shown a Playboy centerfold, he offers to keep it for a more thorough viewing. It's never explained in the film why the scientists don't know who these people are, but it makes for a great comedic effect.

When the scientists first discover Woody Allen's character, Miles Monroe, in cryogenic freeze, what is covering his body?"Sleeper": Silly Sci-Fi

aluminum foil. They have to peel layers of it away from his entire body. The big gag at this point is when they unroll the foil from around his glasses, revealing his face. Miles had originally entered the hospital for an ulcer operation, but somehow--it's not made clear how in the film--ends up frozen at an immortality institution.
