      He is being polite in letting them see he is real.. It was the polite thing to do so that the Northmen could decide if he was real or an evil come from the fog.

      Wolfgar. Wolfgar is King Rothgar's youngest son.

      holding their king's funeral. Their king had died and they were there to honor him.

      Dusublad. He encounters the Northmen before he ever reaches there. We are not told if he ever gets there or not.

      The Wendol mother. The Wendol mother scratches Buliwyf with a poisoned claw before he cut off her head. Buliwyf does manage to kill the Wendol leader before he dies, thus ending the war. While Wigliff might like to see Buliwyf dead, he has no part in it.

    Who is keeping watch before the first battle?Details in "The 13th Warrior"

      Edgtho. Edgtho is keeping watch from a tree by the watchtower. When Ahmed takes him food and stops to make idle conversation, they hear the Wendol horn and see the "Firewurm". Strangely enough, the rope that Edgtho uses to reach the watchtower is nowhere to be seen before he slides down it.

    Which of the 13 is a metal worker?Details in "The 13th Warrior"

      Skeld. Skeld is the warrior with the tattoo across his face. He is very superstitious and believes that the Wendol are demons. He dies in the first major battle against the Wendol. When trying to cut poles, Ahmed realizes that he cannot use the heavy Northern sword. He asks for a metal worker and is directed to Skeld, who helps him turn the sword into a more manageable scimitar. The scimitar was a popular Middle Eastern weapon over a thousand years before Islam came to the Middle east.

    What was the only exploit of Wigliff that Buliwyf knows of?Details in "The 13th Warrior"

      Killed his brothers. When Wigliff implies that Buliwyf is a coward, Buliwyf responds that the only exploit he can recall is that Wigliff killed his brothers. Wigliff - "Wait for the Wendol one night's time, and then talk to us of courage." Buliwyf - "I thank the lord for his advice. Though I don't recall hearing any exploits of his, apart from killing his brothers."

    What animal do the Northmen compare Ahmed's horse to?Details in "The 13th Warrior"

      A dog. Herger and Skeld both mention that "Only an Arab would bring a dog to war." In fact, the Arabian horse would have been taller than the small but sturdy Northern horse breeds of the time.

    Who is the primary archer of the 13?Details in "The 13th Warrior"

      Rethel. Archery was an important skill for the Vikings, in addition to skills with sword, axe and spear. Rethel, played by Mischa Hausserman, dies in the first major battle with the Wendol.
